This prayer is for the people you oversee at work, the ones who show up early or stay late, who carry worries you may never see, and who depend on your leadership more than they say. Pray it at the start of a workday, before a difficult meeting, or during a quiet moment when you think of a particular person on your team. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak more plainly about the names and situations on your heart.

Prayers for My Employees

Lord, thank You for the people You have placed under my care at work. You know each of them by name, and You know the things they are carrying that never make it into a meeting. Some of them are worried about money, about aging parents, about a child who is struggling, or about whether their work matters. Give them rest when they are weary and courage when they feel small. Let them know they are seen and valued, not only for what they produce but for who they are before You.

Give me wisdom in how I lead them. Help me to be fair when I am tempted to play favorites, patient when I am tired, and honest when a hard conversation is needed. Guard my tongue so my words build people up rather than tear them down. When I make mistakes, which I will, let me own them quickly and ask forgiveness without making excuses. Keep me from treating people as tools for my own goals. Make me a leader who points them toward You and not toward myself. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I bring my team before You right now. Be with each one today, especially the ones who are struggling in silence. Give them strength for their work and peace in their hearts. Help me speak kindly, decide wisely, and listen well. Thank You that You care about every person in this office, this shop, this classroom, or this clinic. Amen.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

(WEB)

Use this verse to pray for shared burdens. Ask God to help you notice when someone on your team is overloaded and to give you the willingness to help carry what is heavy.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many leaders find it helpful to pray this before the first meeting of the day, when the office is quiet and the schedule has not yet pulled your attention away. Keep a short list of names beside your desk or in your notes, and pray through a few of them each morning so that everyone is covered over the course of a week. A walk to the parking lot or a quiet minute before you open your email can work just as well.

If you lead with others, invite a colleague, a spouse, or a small group to pray this prayer with you for your team. Some people find it useful to write one specific need beside each employee’s name and to pray for that need by name. Over time, you will begin to notice what God is doing in the people you oversee, and your own leadership will grow more patient and more humble.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord guard the people you lead and keep them steady in their work. May He give you a clear mind, a gentle voice, and a generous heart toward those who depend on you. May each employee go home at the end of the day knowing they were treated with dignity, and may the peace of God settle over your team and over you.
