This simple prayer is for the seasons when life feels heavy, when the days are long, the news is hard, or the future feels uncertain. Pray it in the morning to start the day, in the evening when you are worn out, or whenever the weight rises up in the middle of an ordinary hour. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words what is on your heart.

Simple Prayer During a Difficult Season

Lord, you see me in this hard season. You know the tiredness that sits in my body, the worries that wake me before the alarm, and the questions I cannot answer yet. I do not have to pretend I am fine with you. I am bringing you the real things: the diagnosis we are waiting on, the money that does not stretch far enough, the relationship that feels strained, and the quiet fear that things may not get better.

Be near to me today. Give me enough strength for the next hour, not the whole year. Steady my thoughts when they run ahead of me, and help me notice the small mercies you place along the way, like a kind word, a warm meal, or a few minutes of sleep. Where I cannot see a way forward, remind me that you already see it. Hold the people I love, and hold me. I trust you with what I cannot carry on my own.

Thank you that I am not walking through this alone, and that your love does not depend on how well I am doing. Let me rest in that truth, even if only for a moment. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and I am worried, and I do not have the words for everything. Be near me right now. Give me the strength I need for this moment and the grace to take the next step. Quiet the fear in my chest and help me breathe. I trust you with what is ahead and with the people I love. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel like the ground is shifting under you. Ask God to be the refuge you run to, not only in crisis but in the slow, grinding days that wear you down.

Psalm 34:18

The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

(WEB)

Bring your brokenhearted or crushed feelings to God by name. Pray that he would draw close to you exactly where the hurt is deepest, and believe that closeness is his gift to you.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

Read this slowly and let each promise become a request. Ask God to strengthen you for the task in front of you and to hold you steady when your own footing feels uncertain.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Use this verse when you are exhausted in body and spirit. Tell Jesus plainly where you are weary and ask him to show you what rest looks like in the middle of a demanding season.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Turn your anxious thoughts into specific prayers, one concern at a time. Ask God to guard your heart and mind with a peace that is larger than the situation you are facing.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a regular time, such as first thing in the morning or just before bed, and keep the prayer short enough that you can return to it on hard days. Sit somewhere quiet with a cup of tea or a Bible open beside you, and let your hands rest open on your lap or your knees. Some people find it helps to write the prayer on a card and keep it in a pocket or on the bathroom mirror.

If you are praying for someone else in a difficult season, read the prayer aloud and replace “I” with their name, or pray it together over the phone or in person. A friend or family member can also pray it with you, taking turns with the lines so that the weight is shared. Let the prayer be a starting point, and be honest with God about what the prayer leaves out.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord be near to you in every hard hour, and may his steady love hold you when your strength runs low. May he give you rest for your weary body, peace for your restless mind, and courage for the next step. May you know, even in the quiet, that you are seen, known, and held by the One who walks with you through every season.
