These prayers for women are written for the many seasons women move through: the early morning before the house wakes, the long shift, the hospital corridor, the quiet evening after everyone has gone to bed. Read the main prayer aloud as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words. Each one can be prayed alone, with a friend, or over another woman in your life.

Prayers for Women

Father, you see the women who carry more than anyone knows. You see the mother lying awake with a list of worries, the young woman trying to figure out who she is, the widow learning to eat dinner alone, the wife holding a marriage together while she is tired to the bone. Thank you that none of them are invisible to you. Give each of them a steady sense that you are near.

Where there is weariness, give rest that goes deeper than sleep. Where there is doubt about her worth, remind her whose she is. Where she is making hard decisions about work, family, health or faith, give her wisdom to ask the right questions and courage to act on your answers. Guard her from comparing her life to the lives around her, and help her see her own calling clearly. Strengthen her friendships, heal the wounds that other people caused, and bring women into her life who will pray with her and tell her the truth in love.

Lord, hold the women who are hurting right now, the ones who have no words left. Be their strength when their own runs out. Let your peace settle over their homes and their hearts. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and I am carrying a lot today. Be my strength for the next hour and my rest for tonight. Help me see the women around me the way you see them, and help me love them well. Keep me steady where I feel shaky, and remind me that I am yours. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Proverbs 31:25

Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

(WEB)

Pray this verse for the woman who feels afraid of what the future holds. Ask God to clothe her in strength and dignity, and to help her laugh at the days ahead because she trusts the one who holds them.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Use this verse for the woman who has run out of energy. Ask the Lord to renew her strength in ways that go beyond what she can produce on her own, so that she can keep going without burning out.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Pray these verses over the woman whose mind will not stop racing. Ask God to replace her anxious thoughts with a peace that guards her heart and her thinking, one prayer at a time.

Ruth 1:16

Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.

(WEB)

Pray this for the woman who is loyal to a friend, family member or community in a hard season. Ask God to make her faithfulness steady and to surround her with people who remain faithful to her in return.

Luke 1:38

Mary said, “Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” The angel departed from her.

(WEB)

Read this alongside Mary’s example for the woman facing an unexpected calling or a change she did not choose. Ask God to give her a willing heart that trusts his purposes even when she cannot see the whole picture.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many women find it helps to pray this prayer first thing in the morning, before phones and messages pull attention away. Sit somewhere quiet, with a cup of tea or coffee in your hands, and let your hands rest open on your lap. Speaking slowly and pausing between sentences can turn a list of requests into a real conversation with God.

You can also pray it with a friend, a sister in your church, or a daughter at bedtime. Take turns reading the lines aloud, or let one person pray the main prayer while the other prays the shorter version silently. Praying for another woman by name, and writing down what she shares, gives the prayer a place to keep working throughout the week.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who sees every woman in every kind of day go before her and walk beside her. May she know the depth of his love, the steadiness of his strength, and the rest he offers to the weary. May she grow in wisdom, courage and joy, and may she be a blessing to the people God has placed around her.
