This bedtime prayer is for the end of a working day, when you want to hand your boss over to God before you sleep. Pray it in the evening, once the day’s emails and meetings are behind you and you are ready to rest. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the same spirit.

Bedtime Prayer for My Boss

Father, I come to you at the end of this day and I bring you the one who leads me at work. You know the weight they carry: the deadlines, the decisions that cannot be undone, the people who depend on their judgment. Lord, I ask you to steady them tonight. Quiet the worries that follow them home and keep them from lying awake replaying every conversation.

Give my boss wisdom for what remains unfinished and clarity for what they could not yet settle. Where they are tired, give them real rest. Where they feel unappreciated or misunderstood, remind them that you see their work and their heart. Protect their family and their health while they sleep, and let their home be a place of peace rather than pressure.

Thank you for the ways you have provided through this job and through this person. Forgive me for the frustrations I have carried today, and help me release them to you. Let me sleep with a settled heart, trusting that you are at work even when I am not. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, you are awake while I rest. Please be with my boss tonight. Give them peace in their mind, strength for tomorrow, and sleep that restores them. Guard their home and their family. Help me let go of my own worries about work and trust you with what I cannot control. Thank you for your faithfulness. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

Pray this verse over your boss as a declaration of safety. Ask God to let them lie down and sleep without fear, trusting that their rest is held in his hands.

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

This verse reminds us that worry does not produce what only God can give. Pray that your boss would stop striving through the night and receive rest as a gift from the Lord.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus speaks these words to the weary. Bring your boss to him by name, asking that they would come to Christ with their exhaustion and find real relief.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul shows how to exchange anxiety for prayer. Use this passage to pray that your boss would bring each concern to God and receive a peace that guards the heart and mind.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray that your boss would trust the Lord with the decisions they face and not rely only on their own understanding. Ask God to make their paths clear as they lean on him.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a quiet moment after you have turned off your work devices and before you turn out the light. Sit on the edge of your bed or in a chair near a window, and hold something small in your hands, such as a pen or a cup of tea, as a reminder to set the day down. Read the prayer slowly, pausing at each concern so you can picture your boss and bring them honestly before God.

You might also pray this with a spouse, a roommate, or a friend who knows your workplace. Ask them to pray for the same boss on nights when you feel too tired to pray. Praying together can keep resentment from taking root and can help you see your boss as a person God loves.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps watch over his people hold your boss in the night and give them rest. May he guard their going out and their coming in, and meet them with mercy when morning comes. May his peace settle over them and over you as you sleep.
