This bedtime prayer is for the evening when your wife is still carrying the day’s work, the unfinished emails, the difficult conversation, the deadline waiting for her tomorrow. You can pray it aloud beside her as you settle in for the night, or pray it quietly on your own, reading it as written or using it as a starting point for your own words.

Bedtime Prayer for My Wife’s Work

Lord, thank You for the day that is ending. Thank You for the work You gave my wife to do, for the people she served, the problems she worked through, and the small faithful steps she took when no one was watching. Where she was tired, give her strength. Where she was discouraged, remind her that her labor is not wasted in Your hands.

Now I release her job to You. Take the deadlines, the meetings, the decisions she could not finish, and the people who were hard to work alongside. Quiet the replay of conversations that went badly. Forgive her for the mistakes she made, and help her forgive herself. Let her sleep without rehearsing tomorrow’s list.

Guard her through the night, and protect her body and mind as she rests. Wake her refreshed, with clear thoughts and a willing heart for the day ahead. Prosper the work of her hands in ways that honor You, and keep her close to You in every task. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, my wife has carried a lot today. Take her work out of her hands and into Yours. Settle her mind, forgive what went wrong, and give her rest that is deep and real. Protect her tonight and meet her again in the morning with fresh strength. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

This verse reminds us that anxious striving does not earn God’s provision. As you pray it for your wife, ask God to give her the rest He gives to His beloved, the kind of sleep that comes from trusting Him with the outcome of her work.

Matthew 11:28-29

28 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

(WEB)

Jesus speaks directly to the weary and burdened. Pray this passage over your wife by naming the specific loads she is carrying, then asking Jesus to take them and teach her His gentler way of working.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

David names peace and safety as gifts from the Lord, not products of perfect circumstances. Pray it slowly over your wife, asking God to let her lie down and sleep with the confidence that He is the one keeping watch.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul invites believers to bring every worry into prayer and receive a peace that guards the heart and mind. Use this passage to pray over the worries that follow your wife into the evening, handing each one to God by name.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

This promise speaks of renewed strength for those who wait on the Lord. Pray it over your wife’s energy for tomorrow, asking God to restore what the day has drained from her and to give her endurance for the work ahead.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer at the end of the day, once the lights are low and before either of you reaches for a phone or laptop. Sitting on the edge of the bed or standing by the bedroom door works well. If your wife is awake, you might place a hand on her shoulder or hold her hand while you speak, so the prayer becomes something you share rather than something she overhears.

If you are praying alone for her, consider writing her three or four work concerns on a small card and setting it on the nightstand. Read the card aloud as part of the prayer, then leave it there until morning. You might also invite a friend or small group to pray the same words over her on a set night each week, so she knows she is carried by more than one person.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps Israel neither slumber nor sleep watch over her tonight. May her work be held in His hands, her mind be at peace, and her rest be sweet. May she wake refreshed and ready to serve with joy.
