This daily prayer for good health is for anyone who wants to bring their body, energy and mind before God each morning, whether you are recovering from illness, managing a long-term condition, or simply wanting to honor the life God has given you. Pray it in the morning before the day begins, or whenever you feel run down or anxious about your health. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Daily Prayer for Good Health

Lord, I come to you this morning aware that my body is a gift from you and not something I have earned or can control completely. Thank you for the breath in my lungs, the beat of my heart, and the sleep that restored me last night. Be near to me in the tiredness I feel, the aches I carry, and the worries that sometimes wake me before dawn. Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses who care for me, and help me take the medicine, rest and food that will strengthen me.

Where I am weak, be my strength. Where I am afraid of what a test or diagnosis might show, steady my heart with your peace. Heal what needs healing in your way and in your time, and give me patience when the answer is slow in coming. Help me treat my body with respect today by eating wisely, moving gently, and stopping when I need to rest. Above all, keep my trust anchored in you, the one who made me and knows every part of me. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am tired and I need your help today. Strengthen my body, calm my mind, and guide the people who care for my health. Give me the wisdom to make good choices and the peace to rest when I need to. Thank you that I am held by you, whatever this day brings. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; 3 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases…

(WEB)

David calls on his own soul to remember God’s benefits, and healing is named among them. Pray these words by thanking God for what he has already done for your body and asking him to continue that work.

Jeremiah 30:17

For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds,” says the LORD; “because they have called you an outcast, saying, ‘It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.’”

(WEB)

God speaks of restoring health to his people after a season of suffering. Read this verse slowly and let it become a request for God to restore what has been worn down in you.

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.

(WEB)

The apostle prays that his friend may prosper and be in good health, just as his soul prospers. Use this verse to ask God that your physical life and your spiritual life would grow together.

Isaiah 40:29-31

29 He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. 30 Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; 31 But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

God gives strength to the weary and renews those who wait on him. When your energy is low, pray this passage and ask him to lift you up as you depend on him again.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come to him and find rest. Bring your exhaustion and fear to him in prayer, and receive his invitation as an answer to your need for rest.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it easiest to pray this prayer first thing in the morning, before checking phones or starting work. Sit in a chair near a window, or kneel beside your bed, and take three slow breaths before you begin. You might keep a small notebook nearby to jot down any health concern that comes to mind, so you can bring it to God in the days ahead.

Your hands can help you pray too. Place one hand over your heart or on the part of your body that is troubled, or hold a glass of water as you read. If you are praying for someone else who is sick, ask a family member or friend to join you and say the prayer together, or send it to them as a text to read when they wake up.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who made your body keep you well in the days ahead. May he give you rest that restores, strength for each task, and a calm heart in every uncertain hour. May you know that you are seen and loved by the God who holds your life in his hands.
