This morning prayer for children’s faith is written for parents, grandparents, teachers and anyone who wants to ask God to strengthen a child’s trust in Him before the day begins. Pray it at breakfast, at the bedside, in the car on the way to school, or in the quiet minutes before the house wakes up. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Morning Prayer for Children’s Faith

Lord, thank You for this new morning and for the child You have placed in our care. Before we step into the day, we ask that You would open their heart to know You as near and good. Be with them at the breakfast table, on the bus, in the classroom, and on the playground. When they feel small, unsure, or left out, remind them that You see them and that You never leave them alone.

Give them a faith that is real and not borrowed from anyone else. Help them ask questions with honesty and listen for Your answers with patience. When friends tease them about believing, give them calm courage to stand firm, and surround them with kind people who love You too. Let them learn early that trusting You is not a burden but a place of rest and joy.

We give You every worry about friendships, schoolwork, health, and the things we cannot control. Guard their mind and their imagination so that what they see and hear today points them toward what is true, lovely and good. Keep them safe, and let their day reflect Your love in small and ordinary ways. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, good morning. Walk with our child today and help them feel Your presence close by. Give them courage for what they face, kindness toward the people they meet, and a trust in You that grows a little stronger with each hour. Keep them in Your care from the first step out the door to the last goodnight. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

Pray this verse as a hope for the long road ahead. Ask God to plant good habits of prayer, honesty and kindness in your child today, trusting that small daily faithfulness shapes a whole life.

Psalm 23:1-3

1 The LORD is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

(WEB)

Read this slowly while you picture your child walking into a busy day. Ask the Lord to be their shepherd, guiding them in the right paths and restoring their spirit when they feel worn out.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7

6 These words, which I command you today, shall be on your heart; 7 and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

(WEB)

Pray this as you move through ordinary moments of the morning. Ask that God’s words would become natural in your home, spoken at the table and carried into every conversation on the way to school.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

Use this verse for any fear your child may carry into the day, whether about a test, a new class or a hard friendship. Ask God to remind them that He is with them and will strengthen them.

Matthew 19:14

But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

(WEB)

Pray this verse with gratitude that Jesus welcomes children without hesitation. Ask Him to draw your child near to Himself today and to let them feel accepted by Him in a way no one else can give.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time that already belongs to your morning, such as while the kettle heats, while you braid hair, or while packing lunches. Keep a hand on your child’s shoulder or hold their hand if they are willing. Physical closeness helps young hearts settle and makes the words feel like something shared rather than recited.

If you are not the child’s parent, you can still pray this prayer for them. Teachers, aunts, uncles, neighbors and church leaders can all speak these words over a child in their circle. If you have older children, invite them to add their own sentence at the end, so faith becomes a habit the whole family practices together.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless this child and keep them safe today. May He make His face shine upon them, be gracious to them, and give them peace as they go out and come home. May they know, deep down, that they are loved by the God who made them.
