This morning prayer is for asking God to watch over your mother and father’s health before the day’s appointments, phone calls and errands begin. Pray it first thing, while the house is quiet and before your thoughts fill with the day’s demands. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Morning Prayer for My Parents’ Health
Lord, I come to You before anything else this morning. Thank You for the night’s rest and for the gift of another day. I lift up my mother and my father to You, the two of them whose bodies have carried me, fed me and worn out their own strength along the way. You know every ache they woke up with, every medication they are taking, and every test result they are waiting to hear about. Please be near them in those hours when I cannot be.
Give my mother steady breath and a clear mind today. Ease the pain in her joints and the worry that keeps her awake. Give my father strength for his heart and his blood pressure, and steady hands for the simple tasks that used to come easily. Guide the doctors and nurses who care for them, and give them wisdom in every decision. Where there is fear in their bodies or in their hearts, replace it with Your peace. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, my parents are in Your hands this morning. Be their strength where they feel weak and their rest where they feel tired. Guide their doctors, steady their hearts and keep them close to You all through this day. Let me trust You with what I cannot fix. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose one quiet place for this prayer, such as the kitchen table with your coffee, a chair by the window, or the car before you drive to their home. Keep a pen nearby if you like, and write down any specific symptom, appointment or medication that comes to mind so you can pray over it by name. Holding a cup or a photo of your parents can help your hands stay still while your heart speaks.
Invite someone else to pray this with you, whether a sibling, a spouse, or a friend from church. Share the prayer over the phone or send it by text before their day starts, and agree to check in on how they are doing that evening. Praying together spreads the weight and reminds you that you are not carrying your parents’ health alone.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless your mother and your father and keep them this day. May He make His face shine on them and give them peace in every hour. May He hold their health in His hands and bring them safely to the evening.
