These morning prayers for my work are written for the moments before you open your laptop, step onto the shift floor, or pick up the first call of the day. Pray them at the kitchen table with your coffee, in the car before you park, or quietly at your desk before anyone else arrives. You can read the main prayer aloud as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words about the people and tasks waiting for you.
Morning Prayers for My Work
Lord, I come to you before the day gets loud. You already know what is waiting for me: the emails that need answers, the meeting I am dreading, the deadline that feels closer than it should, and the coworker whose tone wears on me. Help me begin with you rather than with my phone. Quiet the rush in my chest and remind me that this work is one of the places where you have asked me to love and serve.
Give me clear thinking for the tasks in front of me. Help me choose what matters most and let go of what can wait. When I make mistakes, which I will, give me the humility to own them and the peace to fix them without falling apart. Keep my words kind when I am tired, my patience steady when a process goes wrong, and my integrity intact when nobody is checking. Let my work today be honest and careful, and let me finish it without carrying it home in my head.
Father, I also pray for the people I will meet today. Bless my manager and my team, the customers or patients or students who need me, and the ones who are hard to work beside. Help me see them as you see them. If someone is struggling, show me how to help, and if I am the one who is struggling, send someone who notices. Provide for my family through this job, and keep me grateful for the paycheck even on the days it feels small. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am starting my work day and I need you here. Give me focus for the first task, patience for the person who will test me, and wisdom for the decision I cannot yet see. Help me do my job well and treat others with kindness. Let my effort honor you, even in the small things nobody notices. Thank you that I am not doing this alone. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying the main prayer in the first ten minutes of your workday, before your inbox fills your attention. If you commute, you can pray it silently at a red light or in the parking lot. If you work from home, a chair by a window or a spot away from your screen can help you slow down. Keep a pen nearby and jot down any specific person or task that comes to mind, then return to those names during the day.
This prayer also works well shared. A spouse, roommate, or friend who also works can pray it with you over breakfast or by phone before either of you clocks in. Some people keep a printed copy in a drawer or taped inside a locker so the words are ready on hard mornings. Whatever method you choose, let the prayer send you into your day rather than becoming one more item on the list.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into this work day and steady your hands for every task. May he give you clear thinking, a patient heart, and an honest word for each person you meet. May you finish the day tired in the good way, knowing you were faithful where you were placed.
