These morning prayers for sons are written for parents, grandparents, and other believers who want to bring a son before God at the start of the day. Pray them early, while the house is still quiet, or on the drive to school or work. You can read them aloud exactly as written, or use them as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Morning Prayers for Sons
Lord, I thank You for this new day and for the son You have given me. Before he wakes fully, before the first argument over shoes or breakfast, I place him in Your hands. Go before him today. Be in the classroom where he struggles to focus, on the field or court where he tries to prove himself, and in the friendships where he is learning who he is. Guard his heart from the voices that tell him he is not enough, and let him hear Your voice first.
Father, I also lay down my own worry. I want to fix everything for him, and I cannot. Teach me to trust You with the choices he will make alone today, the words he will say to friends, and the temptations he will face when no one is watching. Give him wisdom beyond his years and the courage to do what is right when it costs him something. Where he feels lonely, be near. Where he feels proud, humble him gently. Where he feels lost, show him the next step. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, my son is walking into this day without me. Keep him safe in body and steady in mind. Give him kind words for the people he meets, honest work for the tasks in front of him, and the peace that comes from knowing You are with him. Help him remember whose he is when the pressure rises. Amen.

Ephesians 6:1-4
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise: 3 “that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.” 4 You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Read this for your son’s relationships at home and beyond it. Pray that he would honor those God has placed over him, and that you as a parent would also be patient and encouraging in how you lead him.
Joshua 1:9
Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
(WEB)
Pray this for courage. Ask God to remind your son that He is with him wherever he goes today, so that he can face new challenges without fear of being left alone.
How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a regular moment, such as while you pour the coffee, while he eats breakfast, or as you pray together in the car before school. Some parents keep a hand on their son’s shoulder or hold his backpack while they pray. Writing the verses on a card and tucking it into a lunchbox or onto a bathroom mirror can also help you return to the prayer during the day.
If you are not the only adult in his life, invite a spouse, grandparent, mentor, or pastor to pray the same prayer for him. Hearing several believers ask God for the same things can encourage a son to know he is surrounded by people who love him. Revisit the prayer on days when he faces a test, a game, or a hard conversation.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless this son and keep him. May the Lord make His face shine upon him and be gracious to him. May he walk into this day knowing he is known, loved, and never beyond God’s care.
