This night prayer for endurance is for the end of a long day when you have kept going on fumes and need to hand the weight back to God before you sleep. Pray it at bedtime, in the car before you walk inside, or in the quiet after the house settles. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to the tiredness you are carrying.

Night Prayer for Endurance

Lord, I come to you at the end of this day tired in body and tired in spirit. I have carried things I did not plan to carry: the phone call I dreaded, the work that never seemed to end, the worry about money, the silence from someone I love. I have kept putting one foot in front of the other, and tonight I can barely feel my feet. Thank you that you never grow weary, and that you see the parts of me no one else notices.

Father, I ask you for the strength to get through tomorrow and the days after it, not only this one. Where I am running on empty, fill me up. Where I have been trying to be strong on my own, show me how to lean on you instead. Help me stop replaying every problem in my head as I lie down. Let the things I cannot fix tonight stay in your hands while I sleep, and give me a rest that actually restores me. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am worn out, and I cannot keep going the way I have been. Give me enough strength for tonight and enough grace for the morning. Quiet the worries that keep me awake, and remind me that you are holding what I cannot. Let me rest in you, knowing you are faithful even when I am not steady. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Read this slowly when you feel you have nothing left. Ask God to renew your strength in the places where you feel most drained, and picture yourself waiting on him rather than striving on your own.

Psalm 121:3-4

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

(WEB)

Pray this as a request for protection through the night. Thank God that the one who watches over Israel does not drift off, and ask him to keep watch over you while you sleep.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Bring your exhaustion to Jesus in these words. Name specifically what has been wearing you down, and tell him you are coming to him with it rather than carrying it another hour.

Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

(WEB)

When the day has been hard and you cannot see the point, pray this verse as a statement of trust. Ask God to help you believe that he is working even in what you cannot understand.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

This verse helps when you feel too weak to continue. Pray that God’s power would be made visible in your weakness, and ask him to supply the grace you need for the next day.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer at the end of the day, after the last task is done and before you reach for your phone again. Sit on the edge of your bed or in a chair with the lights low. Some people find it helps to rest a hand on their chest or to hold a warm cup, something that gently brings attention back to the body and away from the list of worries.

If you share a home with a spouse, a child, or a friend who is also running low, pray the prayer aloud together or take turns reading the verses. You can also pray it for someone else who is struggling to endure, changing “I” to “they” where it fits. Whatever you choose, let the prayer end with a few quiet breaths and an honest surrender of the day to God.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who never grows weary give you rest tonight and strength for tomorrow. May he guard your going out and your coming in, and may you wake to find that the grace you needed was already waiting for you. Sleep well, and be held.
