This page offers prayers for my mother, written for the times when you love her deeply and want to bring her to God but do not know where to begin. You can pray these words in the morning before the day gets busy, at her bedside, during a phone call, or whenever worry rises in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. Read them aloud exactly as written, or let them serve as a starting point and add her name, her needs and your own words.
Prayers for My Mother
Father, thank You for the woman who gave me life, who has carried me through seasons I can still remember and many I have forgotten. I bring my mother to You today, as she is, with her strengths and her weaknesses, her joys and her quiet fears. Be near her body, Lord, and grant her strength where she is weary, healing where she is hurting, and rest where sleep has been hard to find. Guard her heart from anxiety and her mind from the lies that tell her she is alone or no longer needed.
Watch over her relationships and her daily routines. Surround her with people who love her well, and let her feel Your presence in the kitchen, the garden, the drive to the doctor and the long evenings when the house is quiet. Where she has regrets, meet her with grace. Where she is grieving, be her comfort. Where she is afraid of what the future holds, remind her that You already hold tomorrow. Give her a settled peace that does not depend on how things turn out.
And Lord, I ask that You would let my mother know how deeply she is loved, by You first and then by those of us who call her ours. Keep her close to You all the days of her life. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, my mother is on my heart right now. Hold her in Your hands, steady her when she is shaking, and give her the peace that only You can give. Strengthen her body, calm her thoughts and remind her that she is never out of Your sight. Let her feel Your nearness in this moment and in every hour to come. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a time that is yours and hers, perhaps early in the morning with a cup of tea, or in the evening after the dishes are done. Sit somewhere quiet and, if it helps, hold something in your hands, such as her photograph, a handwritten note or a rosary. Let the words slow you down and pause after each sentence to picture her face and her circumstances.
You do not have to pray alone. Invite a sibling, a friend from church or your spouse to pray this with you, or send the text to someone who can lift her up on the days you cannot. If your mother is able, pray with her in person, holding her hand and speaking the words over her. Her presence and yours together can be its own kind of blessing.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless your mother and keep her safe in every season. May He make His face shine upon her and be gracious to her, and may she walk in the peace that surpasses understanding. May she know, in her body and in her heart, that she is deeply loved by God and by those who call her family.
