This page gives you short Bible verses for the end of the week, for anyone who is tired, carrying loose ends into Friday, or simply needs a few lines of Scripture that can be read in under a minute. Each verse is brief enough to memorize, and each comes with a note on how it might fit the last days of a long week. These verses share one thread: they point away from our own exhaustion and toward a God who stays steady when we do not.

Verses for Feeling Worn Out on Friday

Some weeks end with the body and mind running on empty. The verses in this group are for the moment you sit down at the end of a long day and realize you have nothing left to give. They remind you that rest and strength come from outside your own effort.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

When the week has been a blur of notifications and deadlines, this verse asks you to stop. Try setting your phone in another room for ten minutes on Friday evening and sit in silence before doing anything else. Let the quiet be the first answer to the noise.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus speaks to people who are weary and burdened, not to those who have it all together. Name one specific weight you have been carrying this week, such as a conversation you dread or a bill on your mind. Say it out loud as a prayer, then leave it with him for the weekend.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Renewal in this verse comes from waiting on the Lord, not from pushing harder. On Saturday morning, before checking anything else, spend a few quiet minutes simply waiting. Notice what changes in your posture, even slightly, when you stop trying to produce strength on your own.

Psalm 121:2

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

(WEB)

When you feel small against the demands of work or family, this verse places your help in the one who made heaven and earth. Write it on a card and keep it in your wallet or bag. Glance at it when you hit a wall during the last hour of the week.

Verses for When Your Week Went Sideways

Not every week ends the way you planned. Mistakes, disappointments and unfinished tasks can leave you feeling like you failed. The verses here speak to that unease, reminding you that God meets people in the middle of their messy days.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

This passage was written in the middle of ruin, yet it looks to God’s mercy as something new each morning. If Friday left you with regrets, consider writing one thing you would like to do differently next week. Then close the notebook and trust that tomorrow’s mercy is already on its way.

Psalm 56:3

When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

(WEB)

Fear tends to gather at the end of the week, when we replay what went wrong. This verse names fear honestly and then turns toward trust. When an anxious thought surfaces on Sunday night, answer it with the words “I trust in you” spoken slowly, one breath at a time.

1 John 4:19

We love him, because he first loved us.

(WEB)

You may feel your failures more sharply than God’s love, but this verse says love comes first. Before you judge how the week went, remember that your worth rests on how God has loved you, not on your performance. Let that reorder how you evaluate yourself on Saturday.

Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

(WEB)

This verse does not claim that every hard week is good, but it does say God works in all of it. Look back over the past few days and ask where you might see even a small sign of his hand. Writing down one such moment can help you carry the disappointments with more hope.

Verses for Gratitude and Rest

The end of the week is a natural time to look back and give thanks. These verses invite you to notice what went well, to receive rest as a gift, and to let gratitude shape how you enter the weekend.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.

(WEB)

Giving thanks in all circumstances is easier when you name specific things. On Friday, write down three ordinary blessings from the week, such as a kind word from a coworker or a meal shared at home. Keep the list where you will see it on Monday morning.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing.

(WEB)

Praying without ceasing does not mean speaking all day long. It means staying open to God in small moments, such as a short prayer while waiting in line or walking to the car. Try turning your ordinary Friday errands into brief conversations with him.

Exodus 33:14

He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

(WEB)

God’s promise to go with his people is a promise of rest in his presence. As the weekend begins, picture him beside you in whatever you are doing, whether that is cooking dinner or sitting on the porch. Let that presence be the rest you need, not just a break from work.

Mark 6:31

He said to them, “You come apart into a deserted place, and rest awhile.” For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

(WEB)

Jesus invited his tired disciples to come away and rest, showing that rest is part of faithful life. Choose one concrete way to step away this weekend, such as a walk without your phone or an early night. Treat that choice as obedience, not indulgence.

How to Use These Verses

Write one or two of these verses on an index card and place it where you will see it at the end of the week, such as on the kitchen counter or beside your bed. Reading a single verse slowly on Friday evening is often more helpful than skimming many. Return to the same verse for several weeks so it has time to settle into your memory.

You can also pray these verses as you go. Read one aloud before a difficult conversation or as you close your laptop for the last time. Let the words shape your prayer, asking God to make his promise true in your particular situation this week.

A Short Prayer for the End of the Week

Lord, thank you for bringing me to the end of another week. Some days I have been strong, and other days I have felt weak and unsure of myself. Hold the parts of this week that I could not manage, and forgive the places where I tried to do everything on my own. Help me to rest in your presence this weekend and to receive your mercy as something new. Let me be grateful for the small gifts I have overlooked, and give me a quiet heart as I step into what comes next. Amen.
