This short morning prayer is for the moment before the day takes over, when you want to hand the hours ahead to God and ask Him to make the day a blessing. Pray it first thing, while the house is quiet or while you sit with your coffee before the first message or meeting. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the same spirit.
Short Morning Prayer for a Blessed Day
Lord, I am awake because You gave me another morning. Before my phone lights up and my list starts pulling at me, I want to stop and say thank You. Thank You for the breath in my lungs, the light coming through the window, and the people I will see today, whether they are at my kitchen table, on the other end of a phone call, or sitting across from me at work. I don’t know everything waiting for me, but You do.
Be with me in the small things: the conversation I have been dreading, the email I need to send, the child who will need patience at breakfast, the coworker who seems tense. Give me a steady heart when the day runs late, and a gentle tongue when I am tired. Help me notice the people You put in my path, and keep me from rushing past them. Let my work be honest and my words be kind, and let the hours be spent in ways that honor You.
Bless this day, Lord, not because I have earned it but because You are good and You love to give good gifts to Your children. Go before me, walk beside me, and be my rest when evening comes. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, this is a new day and I need You in it. Be with me when I wake, when I work, and when I am tempted to lose my patience. Make me kind to the people I meet and faithful in what I am given to do. Bless my hands, my time and my heart, and let this day point back to You. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Find a spot where you can be still for a few minutes before the rush starts. Some people keep a chair by the window, others pray in the car before going into the office, or at the kitchen sink while the kettle heats. Hold something in your hands while you pray, such as a mug, a Bible, or the edge of a table, so your body stays settled while your mind turns toward God. If you are praying with a spouse, roommate or child, invite them to read the prayer aloud together, taking a line each.
Keep the prayer short enough to remember. Many people find it helpful to pray the main prayer once in the morning, then return to the shorter version whenever a hard moment comes up during the day. You do not need the right words for God to hear you. A simple, honest prayer offered each morning, even when you feel rushed, builds a habit of turning toward Him before you turn to anything else.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into this day and keep you in every step. May He give you grace for what is hard, patience for what is slow, and joy in what is good. May His peace guard your heart and mind as you move from one task to the next. Go in peace, and be a blessing to everyone you meet today.
