This short morning prayer for daily grace is written for the first minutes of your day, when the to-do list is already pressing on your mind. Pray it before you check your phone, before the kids wake, or while the coffee brews. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Short Morning Prayer for Daily Grace
Lord, I come to You before the day gets loud. I don’t yet know what this day will hold: the meeting that might run long, the message I haven’t answered, the person who will test my patience by lunchtime. I ask You to meet me in the ordinary hours ahead, not just the big moments. Give me enough grace for the tasks I can see and the surprises I can’t.
Help me to speak kindly to the people I love, especially when I am tired or rushed. Where I am quick to snap or slow to listen, soften my heart. Let my words to my family, coworkers and neighbors carry some of Your patience. Keep me from measuring my worth by how much I get done today.
Father, I give You the things I’m already worried about, and I ask for steadiness to face them one at a time. When I fall short by evening, let me remember that Your mercy is new again tomorrow. Thank You for going with me into this day. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, thank You for this new day. I need Your grace for the next hour, and then for the one after that. Help me to be kind, to be honest and to trust You with what I cannot control. Walk with me into the rest of this morning. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer while you sit on the edge of your bed, or at the kitchen table before anyone else is up. Keep your phone out of reach until you have finished. If your hands need something to do, hold a cup of coffee or rest them open in your lap as a sign that you are giving the day to God.
You might also pray it with a spouse, a roommate, or a friend who is starting a hard week. Read it aloud together, taking turns on the lines about patience and kindness. Praying the same grace over one another can make the first hour of the day feel less like a race.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into this day and walk beside you through every task and every conversation. May His grace be enough for what you face, and may His peace guard your heart as you move from one hour to the next.
