This short morning prayer is for anyone who wakes up already tired, already worried about the day, and wishing they had more to give. It is meant to be prayed before your feet hit the floor or while you drink your first cup of coffee, asking God for the strength the day will require. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own names and needs into the blanks.

Short Morning Prayer for Daily Strength

Lord, I am waking up to a new day, and I already feel the weight of it. There are people I need to speak to, tasks I have not finished, and conversations I am dreading. Some of my worries are small and some feel large, and I don’t know yet which ones will matter most by evening. Please meet me in the first quiet minutes before the noise starts.

Give me strength that is enough for what is actually in front of me today, not the whole month or the whole year at once. When I am tempted to rush ahead, slow me down. When I feel too weak to keep going, remind me that you have never run out of power and never grow tired. Help me be patient with my family, honest at work, and gentle with myself when I fall short.

I give you the hours I cannot see yet. Walk with me into the kitchen, the car, the office, the phone calls and the unexpected problems, and let me notice your presence in the ordinary moments. Hold the people I love and the people I will meet, and keep my heart steady in you. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I need you before I need anything else this morning. Give me the strength for this next hour, and then the strength for the hour after that. Steady my thoughts and quiet my fear. Help me do what is in front of me with a calm and willing heart, trusting that you are already at work in my day. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel drained before the day has even started. Ask God to renew your strength the way he promises, so that waiting on him becomes the source of your energy rather than a task you add to your list.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when the day feels unstable or unpredictable. Name God as your refuge in the specific situations you expect to face, and ask him to be the place you run to when things shake.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Pray this passage when yesterday’s mistakes or failures are still heavy on you. Thank God that his mercies start fresh each morning, and ask him to help you receive that newness today.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

(WEB)

Pray this verse for the particular task you dread most today. Ask God to be the one who gives you what you lack, so that you do not have to pretend your own resources are enough.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel worn down before you have begun. Bring your fatigue honestly to Jesus and ask him to show you what rest in him looks like, even in the middle of a busy day.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying the main prayer in the first ten minutes after you wake, before you check your phone or messages. Sit on the edge of the bed or stand at the kitchen counter with a hand around a warm mug, something that keeps your body present while your mind slows down. If you have a short list of tasks or names for the day, read it while you pray so the requests stay specific.

If you share a home, consider praying it aloud with a spouse, a child, or a roommate over breakfast. You might take turns adding one concern each, which turns a private prayer into a small shared start to the day. When the morning gets away from you, keep the shorter version in your pocket and pray it at a red light, in the elevator, or before a difficult meeting.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before you into this day and fill you with strength that does not run out. May he steady your steps, guard your heart, and give you grace for every person you meet. Rest in his faithfulness, and walk forward knowing you are held.
