This short prayer for healing and comfort is for the moments when your body hurts, your heart is heavy, or you have no words of your own. It is meant for times of illness, recovery, grief, or fear, and it can be prayed at a bedside, in a waiting room, or quietly before sleep. You may read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own sentences where they fit.
Short Prayer for Healing and Comfort
Lord, you see me in this place where I am tired, sore, and afraid of what comes next. I bring you my body and the pain I cannot make go away. Touch the places that are broken and sick, and give healing where you choose to give it. Give the doctors wisdom, the nurses patience, and my family strength for the long hours.
Father, my mind is loud at night with questions I cannot answer. I am worried about the test results, the bills, and the people who depend on me. Quiet my thoughts and settle my heart. Let me feel your nearness even when the room is dark and the news is hard. Hold me the way a parent holds a child who has been hurt.
Whatever comes, let me rest in your care and not in my fear. Give me peace that does not depend on how I feel today. Heal what can be healed, comfort what cannot, and remind me that I am not alone. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am hurting and I am scared. Be near me now. Ease the pain, calm my worried mind, and give healing in your time. Hold me close and let me feel your peace in this moment, even if nothing else has changed yet. Amen.

(WEB)
Paul calls God the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. Pray this passage for yourself, and also for others who are hurting, asking that the comfort you receive may reach them too.
How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find it helpful to pray this prayer in the early morning or late at night, when pain and worry tend to feel strongest. Sit in a chair you can rest in, keep a glass of water nearby, and place a hand on the place that hurts or on your chest. Letting your hands stay still and open can help your body settle while you speak.
You can also pray it with someone else. Ask a friend, a pastor, or a family member to read it aloud while you listen, or to pray it over you in their own words. If you are caring for someone who is sick, you may pray it on their behalf, changing “me” and “I” to “them” and “they” as you go.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who heals and comforts be near you in this hour. May he steady your body, quiet your fears, and give you rest that reaches deeper than sleep. May you know that you are held, and that healing and peace are never beyond his reach.
