This short prayer for my future is for the moments when you are looking ahead and feeling unsure about work, relationships, health, or the next season of life. Pray it in the morning before the day’s decisions begin, or late at night when worry is loudest. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the same spirit.
Short Prayer for My Future
Lord, you already know the road I am about to walk, even though I cannot see past the next bend. I bring you my future: the job I am hoping for and the one I am afraid to lose, the questions about where I should live, the people I love and the ones I worry about. I confess that I often try to control what happens next, and I get tired from carrying it all alone. Help me hold my plans loosely and my hands open.
Give me wisdom for the choices in front of me, and the patience to wait when the answer has not come yet. Guard my heart from comparing my path with anyone else’s. Where I am anxious about money, health, or the people I care for, steady me with the truth that you have been faithful before and you are faithful now. Make me willing to take the next faithful step, even when I cannot see the whole staircase. Teach me to trust your timing more than my own fears.
Thank you that my future is not a mystery to you, and that you are not waiting on the other side of it. Walk with me into tomorrow, and let me find you there. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, you hold my future in your hands. I do not know what comes next, but you do, and you are good. Give me the wisdom to choose well today, the peace to wait for what I cannot yet see, and the courage to take the next step. Keep my heart near to you as I go. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a quiet time, such as early morning with a cup of coffee or in the car before you walk into work. Keep a notebook nearby and write down the specific concerns you are carrying, like a job decision, a move, or a conversation you dread, and then pray the prayer over each one by name. Opening your hands on your lap or resting them on the table can help you release what you are gripping.
You might also ask a trusted friend, spouse, or small group to pray this prayer with you or for you. Hearing someone else speak your hopes and fears back to God can loosen the knot of worry. Return to it each day for a week and notice what has changed in your heart, even if your circumstances have not.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into every tomorrow and steady your steps along the way. May he give you wisdom for each decision, peace in each waiting season, and hope that does not depend on what you can see. May you rest today in the knowledge that your future is held by one who loves you.
