This short prayer is for the days when your faith feels thin, distant or simply tired. You might pray it when prayers seem to bounce off the ceiling, when church feels like a routine you are going through, or when doubts arrive in the quiet hours before sleep. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the same spirit.

Short Prayer When Your Faith Feels Weak

Lord, I come to you honestly today. My faith feels weak, and I am not sure how much I have left to give. Some mornings I open my Bible and the words feel flat. Some nights I wonder whether you are listening, and I am ashamed of how often that question sits in my chest. You already know these thoughts before I say them, and you have not turned away from me because of them.

Strengthen what is small in me. Where my trust has shrunk to a thread, be the one who holds it. Where I have stopped expecting you to act, wake up my hope again, gently and steadily. Help me remember who you have been in my life, even when I cannot feel you right now. I do not need a feeling to belong to you. I need you, and you have promised to be near.

So I give you this weak faith as it is, without polish. Take the little I have and make it enough for today. Carry me through this dry stretch, and bring me back to the place where I can rest in your love. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, my faith feels weak right now, and I do not have words for much more than that. Hold me up. Quiet my fear and remind me that you are faithful even when I am not. Let this small prayer be enough to start again with you. Thank you that you hear me, even when I can barely speak. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Mark 9:24

Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”

(WEB)

This is the honest cry of a father who believed and still needed help believing. Pray it when you want to trust God more but feel unable to. It gives you permission to bring your uncertainty straight to Jesus rather than hiding it.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

The psalmist admits that his body and heart are failing, then points to God as the strength that does not run out. Pray this when your own resources feel spent, and ask God to be the portion you lean on.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

Isaiah speaks of God giving power to the faint and increasing strength to those who have none. Use this verse when you feel completely drained, and thank God that his supply does not depend on yours.

Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

(WEB)

Paul writes that the Spirit helps us in our weakness, even when we do not know what to pray. Pray this when you are too tired or confused to form words, trusting that God is working on your behalf.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

In the middle of grief and ruin, the writer remembers that God’s mercies are renewed each morning. Pray this at the start of a day when yesterday left you discouraged, and receive fresh mercy as a gift.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when you can pause without rushing, such as first thing in the morning, during a lunch break, or just before bed. Sit somewhere quiet and keep your Bible or a notebook nearby. You might hold a cup of tea or rest your hands open on your lap, a small gesture that reminds you to receive rather than strive. Read the prayer slowly, pausing after each sentence to let it sink in.

If you are struggling to pray alone, invite someone you trust to pray it with you or over you. A friend, a spouse or a small group can speak the words while you listen, which often makes them easier to believe. Come back to this prayer whenever the dry season returns, and let it become a familiar path back to God.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps watch over you give you strength for this season and steady hope for the next. When your faith feels fragile, may his faithfulness hold you firmly. May you know that you are seen, heard and loved, and that the God who began a good work in you is still faithful to finish it.
