This simple prayer for my wife is written for the everyday moments when you love her and want to bring her before God but do not know where to begin. Pray it in the morning before the day gets loud, at her bedside in the evening, or whenever you think of her in the middle of an ordinary afternoon. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Simple Prayer for My Wife

Lord, thank You for my wife. Thank You for the way she sees people, for her patience when I am slow to understand, and for the many small ways she carries our home and the people in it. Watch over her body and her rest. Give her strength for the work she does each day, whether it is seen or unseen, and let her feel that she does not carry it alone.

Father, meet her in the places where she is worried or tired. If there is a decision in front of her, give her clarity and calm. If there is a friendship that has grown cold, or a family matter that weighs on her heart, soften what is hard and open a way forward. Keep her from comparing herself to others, and remind her that she is loved for who she is and not for what she accomplishes.

Help me to be the husband she needs. Make me quick to listen, slow to anger, and generous with my words of encouragement. Guard her heart and her faith, and let her grow closer to You year by year. Bless her with peace that does not depend on her circumstances. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I bring my wife to You right now. Give her peace where she feels anxious, strength where she feels spent, and joy in the small things today. Show her again how deeply she is loved, by You and by me. Keep her close and guide her steps. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Use this passage to bring her worries to God one by one. Name each concern you know she carries, and then ask for the peace that guards the heart and mind to settle over her.

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

Pray this as a blessing for her going out and coming in. Ask the Lord to keep her from harm in her travels, her work, and her daily routines, now and in the seasons ahead.

Proverbs 31:25

Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

(WEB)

Thank God for the strength and dignity you see in your wife. Ask Him to keep that strength rooted in trust, so she can face each day with confidence and without fear of what is coming.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, 5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 6 doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

(WEB)

Let this passage shape your own prayer for her and for your marriage. Ask God to help you love her with patience, kindness, and a steady, forgiving heart, especially when you are tired or frustrated.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it…

(WEB)

Pray that you would love your wife the way Christ loves His people, with sacrifice and tenderness. Ask God to show you specific ways to serve her this week so that this love becomes visible in ordinary actions.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when the house is quiet, such as early in the morning with a cup of coffee in your hands or in the car before you walk inside after work. Keep a small notebook nearby and write down any specific concern she has mentioned, so you can pray for it by name the next day. If you are able, place a hand on her shoulder or hold her hand while you pray, so that the words reach her as an embrace as well as a prayer.

If you are not married to her in the same home, or if she is far away, pray this prayer over a photo of her or while you are on the phone with her. You might also invite a close friend, a small group, or your pastor to pray this with you on her behalf. Other voices lifting her up can remind her that she is part of a wider family of faith.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless her and keep her. May He make His face shine upon her and be gracious to her. May she rest in His love today, feel the nearness of her husband’s care, and know that she is held by a faithful God who has not forgotten her.
