This morning prayer is for asking God to bless your marriage before the day’s first conversations, errands and decisions begin. Pray it when you wake, while the house is still quiet, or in the minutes before your spouse wakes up. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Morning Prayer for My Marriage
Father, thank You for this new morning and for the gift of the person beside me. Before I step into the rush of the day, I bring my marriage to You. Keep my heart soft toward my spouse, even when we disagree. Help me speak with patience at breakfast, listen before I answer, and remember that we are on the same side. Guard us from the small resentments that can grow when no one is paying attention.
Lord, I pray for the hours ahead: the meetings, the school drop-off, the phone calls, the grocery list and the bills that need attention. Show us how to share the load without keeping score. Where one of us is tired, give the other grace. Where one of us is anxious about money, health or the future, calm our hearts and remind us that we do not carry those things alone. Let our home be a place where love is practiced, not just spoken.
Thank You for the faithfulness You have shown us so far. Give us a grateful spirit today, and help us notice the good things we might otherwise overlook. Bless our marriage with honesty, kindness and joy. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, bless my marriage this morning. Soften my words before I speak them, and help me see my spouse the way You see them. Give us patience with each other and a willingness to forgive quickly. Walk with us through the day, and let us come home to each other tonight with gratitude. Amen.
Scriptures to Pray Alongside
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up.

Pray this over the work and burdens you will share today. Thank God that marriage means you do not face the hard things alone, and ask Him to help you lift each other up when one of you stumbles.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5
4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, 5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil…

Read these words slowly and ask the Lord to show you where patience or kindness needs to grow in your marriage today. Let each quality become a specific request you bring to God before the first conversation.

Colossians 3:12-13
12 Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.
(WEB)
Pray for the clothing of compassion, kindness and forgiveness to be worn visibly in your home. Ask God to help you extend the same grace to your spouse that He has extended to you.
How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer while you are still in bed or sitting in a quiet kitchen with a cup of coffee in your hands. Holding something warm can help you slow down and focus on the people you are praying for. If you wake before your spouse, you might rest a hand on the bed or pray silently as they sleep.
If you share faith with your spouse, consider praying this together once a week, taking turns with the lines. You might also ask a close friend or your small group to pray for your marriage on their own mornings. Being held in prayer by others can strengthen you on the days when your own words feel thin.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before this couple into every conversation today. May He grant them patience, tenderness and the wisdom to choose each other again and again. May their home be a place of peace, and may they rest tonight knowing they were loved well.
