This is a Christian prayer for my husband, written for a wife who wants to lift him before God when words are hard to find. You can pray it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add the names, worries and hopes that belong to your own marriage. It works at the kitchen table in the morning, in the car before he gets home, or beside the bed at night.

Christian Prayer for My Husband

Lord, I bring my husband to You today. You know the work that fills his hours, the pressures he carries quietly, and the decisions he lies awake turning over. Give him wisdom that is steady and kind, and a clear sense of what matters most. When he feels stretched thin, be the rest he cannot find on his own. Guard his body and his mind, and let him sleep well tonight.

Father, make him a man of integrity whether anyone is watching or not. Shape his words so they build people up. Keep his heart soft toward You and toward me, and protect our marriage from distance, resentment and busyness. Where he is weary of trying, renew his hope. Where he is discouraged about who he is becoming, remind him that You are still at work in him. Thank You for the gift of him in my life. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I lift my husband to You right now. Give him strength for what is in front of him, peace where he is anxious, and courage where he feels small. Keep him close to You, and bless our marriage with patience, grace and joy. Thank You for him. Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

Ask God to watch over your husband as he comes and goes, guarding his going out and his coming in, in the ordinary hours of his days.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a steady time, such as the few minutes after he leaves for work or the quiet before you both fall asleep. Keep a small note with his name on it in your Bible, your kitchen drawer or your phone, so you can pray without searching for words. Some wives find it helpful to hold something in their hands while they pray, like his coffee mug or a ring, as a reminder to stay focused on him.

You do not have to pray alone. Ask a close friend, a small group or your church to pray for your husband alongside you, and let them know specific requests so they can pray with purpose. Tell him you are praying for him, too, if the timing feels right. Some couples find that praying together, even for a minute, opens conversations that had felt stuck.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless your husband and keep him, and may His face shine upon him with grace. May He give him rest for his soul and courage for his days. May your marriage grow in love, patience and trust, and may both of you know that you are held by a faithful God.
