In this lesson, children learn that God knew what would happen long before it did, and that He cares for His people through every trouble. This lesson is for children ages 5 to 11 and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to teach.
Big Idea
God knows what is going to happen, and He takes care of His people even when the world seems scary and confusing.
Memory Verse
Daniel 11:32
He will corrupt those who do wickedly against the covenant by flatteries; but the people who know their God will be strong, and take action.

Have the children stand tall and raise both fists in the air on the word “strong,” then put one hand on their heart. Say the verse together three times, getting a little louder each time, so the words stick.
The Story: Daniel 11 for Kids
Long ago, an angel came to a man named Daniel and told him about things that would happen in the future. Daniel was an old man who had served God faithfully for many years. The angel wanted Daniel to know that God was in charge of every kingdom on earth. Daniel listened carefully, because the news was important.
The angel told Daniel about kings who would rise and fall. Some kings would be very powerful and proud. They would fight with one another and make big plans for their own glory. Many people would be frightened, and many would be hurt. The kings did not always think about God, and some of them even turned against Him.
The angel also said that some people would stay faithful to God, even when it was hard. These people would know their God and stand strong. The angel told Daniel, “Those who are wise will teach many people.” Those teachers would sometimes suffer, but God would use even their pain to make them pure and good.
The story ends with a king who thinks he is greater than everyone, even greater than God. He does not listen to God and he does wrong things. But God had already decided what would happen, and His plan would not fail. The angel wanted Daniel to remember that God was still watching over His people.
Read It Together
Daniel 11:33
“Those who are wise among the people will instruct many; yet they will fall by the sword and by flame, by captivity and by plunder, many days.

Point out that the wise people helped others understand God, even when life was hard. Ask the children what it means to be a helper who tells others about God.
Daniel 11:35
Some of those who are wise will fall, to refine them, and to purify, and to make them white, even to the time of the end; because it is yet for the time appointed.
(WEB)
Explain that God uses hard times to make His people pure and good, like gold being cleaned in a fire. Remind the children that God is working even when they cannot see it.
Daniel 11:36
“The king will do according to his will. He will exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and will speak marvelous things against the God of gods. He will prosper until the indignation is accomplished; for that which is determined will be done.

Show the children that no one is greater than God, even when people act proud. Help them see that God is still in control, even when the world seems out of control.
Talk About It
- What do you think Daniel felt when the angel told him about scary things that would happen?
- How can God help us feel safe when people around us are being unkind or afraid?
- What is one way you can be strong and faithful to God at school or at home?
- Why do you think God wanted Daniel to know what would happen before it happened?
- Who is someone you can share God’s love with this week, and how could you do it?
Activity Ideas
Strong and Faithful Crown Craft
You will need paper strips, glue, crayons or markers, and tape. Have each child write the word “strong” on one strip and decorate it with bright colors. Tape the strips together into a crown that fits their head. As they wear the crown, talk about how God helps us stand strong when life gets hard.
Stand Firm Movement Game
Choose one child to be the wind and let the others stand in a line. The wind blows gently and then harder, and each child tries to stand firm without falling. Those who stay standing cheer for one another. Explain that God helps His people stand firm even when life feels like a strong wind.
Take-Home Prayer Reminder Card
You will need index cards, a pencil, and stickers. Write the words “God is in control” on each card and let the children decorate it with stickers. Ask them to place the card by their bed or on the kitchen table. Encourage them to read it aloud each morning and thank God for taking care of them.
Teacher Notes
For adults, this chapter shows that God knows the end from the beginning and that His purposes stand even when human kings rise and fall. It reminds believers that faithfulness can be costly, yet God uses even suffering to refine His people. Adults can take comfort that history is not out of God’s hands.
When teaching children, avoid overstating the details of the kings, their battles, or the timeline of events. Children do not need to know every historical name to grasp the big picture. Focus instead on God’s faithfulness and the call to stand strong, so that the lesson stays simple and encouraging.
A Prayer to Close
Dear God, thank You for knowing everything that will happen and for taking care of us. Help us to stand strong and be faithful, even when things are hard or scary. Please help us to tell others about Your love. We trust You to lead us every day. Amen.
