This prayer is for the husband you love and the marriage you share. Pray it when you want to bring his work, health, choices and heart before God, whether in the early morning, during a drive, or before he walks through the door at night. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words where your heart leads.

Prayer for My Husband

Lord, I bring my husband to you today. You know the days he has ahead, the decisions waiting on his desk, the conversations he will have and the ones he is dreading. Give him wisdom that is more than cleverness, so that he can tell what is good from what only looks good. Guard his body and his rest, and when he is worn down, renew his strength the way you promised to renew those who wait on you.

Father, search his heart and heal whatever has been hurt there, whether by disappointment, by people who failed him, or by his own failures that he carries alone. Give him a clean conscience and a willingness to confess what needs confessing. Let him feel your nearness in the quiet places where he does not usually speak, and let him know he is loved, both by you and by me. Keep his faith steady when prayers seem slow to be answered.

Bless the work of his hands and protect him from anything that would pull him away from you or from our home. Make him faithful, kind and patient, a man who leads with gentleness and listens before he speaks. Hold him close when he is afraid and remind him that he does not have to carry everything. Thank you for giving him to me and for the life we are building together. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my husband is on my mind right now, and I give him to you. Be with him wherever he is, give him peace where there is pressure, and give him wisdom for what he faces next. Strengthen his heart, keep him from harm, and draw him closer to you each day. Let him know he is loved by you and by me. Amen.

(WEB)

When your husband feels weary in doing good, whether in his work, his family or his faith, pray that he would not give up, and that he would see the harvest God is preparing in its season.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a set time, such as while he is getting ready for work or in the minutes before you fall asleep, so the habit becomes a steady rhythm rather than something you only remember in a crisis. A quiet chair, a kitchen table or the edge of the bed works well. Keep his photo nearby or wear a ring or small object that reminds you to pray when you see it.

It can help to write the prayer in your own handwriting and add a line each week about something specific you have seen God do in his life. Consider asking a close friend or your church to pray with you, and tell your husband you are praying for him if he is open to that. Your prayer does not depend on his knowing, but many couples find that shared prayer draws them closer.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord keep your husband and bless him with a settled heart and a clear mind. May he feel the nearness of God in every ordinary day, and may the love he gives and receives grow deeper with each passing season.
