This prayer is for the moment you want your faith to go deeper than habit, and you want to start the day by asking God to meet you there. Pray it when you first wake, before your phone or your to-do list takes over. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Morning Prayers for a Deeper Faith
Lord, I am awake, and I am asking You to be awake in me before anything else gets my attention. Some mornings I reach for my phone before I reach for You, and I know that tells me something about where my heart is. Today I want my faith to be more than a set of words I say on Sundays. Teach me to trust You with the coffee, the commute, the email I dread, and the conversation I am not ready for.
You know the people I will meet today: the coworker who frustrates me, the child who needs patience I do not feel I have, the friend who is hurting and may not say so. Go before me into each of those moments. Help me listen more than I speak, and help me notice where You are already at work. When I feel spiritually dry, remind me that You do not run out of grace, and that closeness with You is something You give, not something I have to earn by trying harder.
Shape my faith so that it holds steady when my plans fall apart. Make me honest about my doubts and quick to bring them to You instead of hiding them. Let my faith be real enough that others can see it in how I treat people and how I handle pressure today. Keep me close to You through every hour, and let me end this day knowing I walked with You. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I need You before I need anything else this morning. Draw me closer than my routines allow, and steady my heart for whatever comes next. Help me trust You with what I cannot control, and make my faith something I live out, not only something I feel. Be the center of this day, and let me see You in it. Amen.

Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
(WEB)
Pray that God would renew your mind so that your faith shapes what you notice, want and decide. Ask Him to change you from the inside as you go about your ordinary tasks.
Colossians 3:23
And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

James 1:5
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.
(WEB)
Ask God for the wisdom you will need before the first hard decision of the day arrives. Pray with confidence that He gives generously and does not hold back from those who ask.
How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this before you check your phone or step out of bed, while the house is quiet. Sitting in a chair by a window with a cup of something warm can help your mind settle. If you can, keep a small notebook nearby so you can write down one thing God brings to mind as you pray.
You might also pray this prayer with a spouse, a roommate or a friend who wants to grow in faith alongside you. Take turns reading a line or two, and agree to ask each other that evening how the day went. Praying together in the morning often carries into how you care for one another through the day.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who made this morning go with you into every hour of today. May He deepen your trust, steady your heart and remind you that you are His. May your faith grow quietly and surely, and may the people you meet see something of Christ in the way you live.
