This prayer is for asking God for wisdom before the day’s decisions, conversations and small choices begin to pile up. Pray it in the first minutes after you wake, while the house is still quiet, or on the drive to work or school. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Morning Prayers for Daily Wisdom
Father, I am waking up to a day I have not yet lived. I already know some of what is coming: the meeting I am dreading, the message I have not answered, the child who needs patience, the bills that need a plan. Before any of it starts, I ask you for wisdom. Not just knowledge about what to do, but the ability to see clearly what matters most today and what can wait.
Give me discernment in the small things, the words I choose when I am tired, the tone I use when someone frustrates me, the choice between a quick answer and a careful one. Slow my reactions. Let me listen before I speak. Where I do not know what to do, let me admit it honestly rather than pretending, and let me come to you without delay. Guide my hands in the work in front of me, and keep my attention from wandering to what I cannot control. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I need your wisdom for this day. Show me what matters most, and help me set aside what does not. Give me patience with the people I will meet and a clear mind for the tasks in front of me. When I am unsure, let me pause and ask before I act. Keep my words kind and my decisions honest. Thank you that you give wisdom generously when we ask. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying the full version while you are still in bed or sitting at the kitchen table with your first cup of coffee, before your phone fills your attention. Keep it nearby, perhaps written on an index card or saved as a note, so you can return to it when the day gets noisy. Touching something in your hands, like the cup, a Bible or the steering wheel, can help you keep your mind on the prayer rather than drifting to your inbox.
If you live with a spouse, roommate or children, you might pray the shorter version together over breakfast, each person naming one decision they need wisdom for. A friend or small group can also pray it for you on days when you feel overwhelmed. Consider writing down one thing you want to remember from the day, then return to the prayer in the evening to notice where God’s wisdom showed up.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord give you wisdom for every choice you face today. May he make your mind clear, your words kind and your steps steady. Go into the day trusting that the God who made the morning is already at work in it.
