This daily prayer for children’s safety is for parents, grandparents, teachers, and anyone who carries a child in their heart and worries about where they go, who they are with, and what the day might bring. Pray it in the morning as children head out the door, at bedtime, or whenever a fear rises. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add the names and places that fill your own days.

Daily Prayer for Children’s Safety

Father, you know every child by name, and you know the streets, schools, playgrounds, and screens they walk through every day. I bring my children to you this morning. I ask you to go before them to the bus stop, the classroom, the sports field, and the car ride home. Surround them with your protection, and guard their bodies from accident, illness, and harm. Where I cannot be present, be present for me.

Protect their hearts as well as their bodies. Keep them from people who would hurt, manipulate, or mislead them, and give them wisdom to recognize danger and courage to tell a trusted adult when something feels wrong. Guard their minds from fear that is not from you and from the pressures that would pull them away from what is good. Teach them to come to you when they are afraid.

Lord, I release my worry into your hands, because I cannot control every moment of their day. I trust that you are more faithful to them than I could ever be. Watch over their coming and going, now and always. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my child is out of my sight right now, and my heart is anxious. Surround them with your angels, guard their steps, and keep them from harm seen and unseen. Give them wisdom to make good choices and the courage to come to a safe adult if they need help. Calm my fear and rest it in your care. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 91:11

For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways.

(WEB)

Pray this verse by naming the specific places your child goes each day, such as school, the park, or a friend’s house, and asking God to command his angels over each one. It turns a general worry into a concrete request.

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

Use this passage as you watch your children leave and return. Thank God that he keeps their going out and coming in, and ask him to keep watch over every hour between those two moments.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

(WEB)

Pray this for the wisdom your children need to recognize good and harmful paths as they grow. Ask God to shape their choices so that they walk in safety when you are not beside them.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

When a child is afraid, read this verse aloud to them and then pray it over them. Ask God to remind them that he is with them, and let the promise steady both of your hearts.

Matthew 18:10

See that you don’t despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

(WEB)

Pray this as a reminder that your child is precious to God and watched over in heaven. Ask that his care for them would be felt in every frightening or lonely moment.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a set time each day, such as while you make breakfast, as you tuck a child in at night, or during the drive to school. Keeping the same rhythm helps the prayer become a habit rather than a rushed thought. If you have a photo of your child or a school schedule nearby, hold it in your hands as you pray so that each name and place is before you.

Invite others to pray with you. A spouse, a grandparent, a friend, or a small group can take a line each morning or pray for a particular child. Keep a simple list of the children and their current needs, and update it when something changes at school, at home, or online so that your prayers stay specific and honest.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless these children and keep them safe in every place they go. May he guard their going out and their coming in, give them wisdom beyond their years, and surround them with people who love them well. And may their parents and caregivers rest in the knowledge that God holds them even more tightly than they do.
