This short prayer for hope and healing is written for the days when you are worn down by pain, worry or waiting, and you want honest words to bring to God. You can pray it in the morning, at a hospital bedside, late at night, or whenever your own words feel too thin. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own voice.
Short Prayer for Hope and Healing
Lord, you see me today, including the parts of me I have not been able to say out loud. My body is tired, and some days it feels like it is failing me in ways I did not expect. I think about the test results, the bills, the sleepless nights, and the people who depend on me, and my heart goes heavy. I do not know how this will turn out, and I am asking you to meet me in that uncertainty.
Father, I ask for healing, for my body, my mind and my relationships where they are broken or bruised. If it is your will to restore my health now, I receive that gift with thanks. If the healing comes slowly or in a form I did not choose, give me the patience to trust your timing. Above all, fill me with hope that is anchored in who you are, so that my hope does not rise or fall with each new report. Be near to the ones I love who are carrying this with me. Steady my hands and my heart, and let me rest in your care. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am tired and afraid, and I need you right now. Heal what is hurting in me, and give me hope for the next hour, even if I cannot see the whole road. Hold me steady, and help me remember that you are with me here. Thank you that you hear the quiet prayers as well as the long ones. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a quiet time and place, such as the first few minutes after you wake, a seat in the car before you go inside, or the corner of the room where you usually sit. Keep a pen nearby and write down any phrase that stands out, then pray it again the next day. If your hands need something to do, hold a cup of tea, a Bible, or the hand of someone beside you while you speak.
You do not have to pray this alone. Ask a friend, a pastor, or a family member to pray it with you, or to pray it for you when you cannot find the words. Some people keep a list of names on their phone and read the prayer over each person on the list in turn. Let others carry the hope with you on the days you cannot carry it yourself.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord give you healing where you need it and hope where you feel empty. May he hold you through the hard hours and remind you that you are never forgotten. May his peace settle over you tonight, and may you rise tomorrow knowing you are loved.
