This evening prayer is for the end of a working day when your business is still on your mind. It gives you words to hand your work, your worries and your unfinished lists to God before you sleep. Pray it at the close of the day, once the lights are low and your phone is set aside, and read it aloud as written or use it as a starting point for your own words.

Evening Prayer for My Business

Lord, the day is ending and I bring my business to You as it is tonight. You know the invoices I haven’t chased, the payroll that has to clear, the customer who was angry this afternoon, and the supplier I still need to call back. You know the numbers I checked too many times and the decisions I am not sure I made well. I confess that I have tried to carry all of it by myself, as if the outcome depended only on my hands. Tonight I set it down at Your feet.

Thank You for the work You have given me and for the people who depend on it, including my staff, my family and the customers who trusted me with their needs today. Thank You for the sales that did come in, the problem that got solved, and the small kindness from a client that I almost missed. Forgive me where I was short with my team or quick to fear. Give me a clear mind tomorrow, and wisdom for the choices still ahead. Watch over the business while I sleep. Keep it from harm, keep my people safe, and let my rest be real because I trust You with what I cannot control. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am tired and my business is still heavy on my mind. I give You the work, the worries and the decisions I could not finish today. Thank You for what went well and for the people who helped me. Protect what I have built, guard my family and my team through the night, and give me rest. I trust You with tomorrow. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 127:1-2

1 Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

This psalm reminds you that building and guarding are finally in God’s hands. Pray it when you feel the pressure to make every outcome depend on your own effort, and ask Him to let your work rest on His faithfulness.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus invites the weary to come to Him, and a tired business owner is often exactly that. Let this verse slow you down at the close of the day and name the specific weight you are ready to hand over.

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

(WEB)

Peter tells believers to cast their anxiety on God because He cares for them. Pray this over the money, the deadlines and the people you feel responsible for, and release each worry to Him one by one.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

This verse speaks of lying down and sleeping because God alone makes you dwell in safety. Pray it as you turn off the light, asking Him to guard your business and your household while you rest.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul moves from anxiety to prayer, and then to a peace that guards the heart. Use this passage to bring specific requests about your work to God, and thank Him for what He has already done before you close your eyes.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time after the last task of the day, ideally in the place where you usually finish work, such as your desk, the kitchen table or the car before you go inside. Keep a pen and a notebook nearby, and before you pray, write down the three things that are weighing on you most. Let your hands rest on the page as you read, which helps the prayer move from your head into your body.

If you run your business with a partner, a manager or a spouse who shares the load, pray this prayer together or ask them to pray it over you. Sharing it with someone you trust makes it harder to carry the burden alone, and it gives the next morning a shared starting point. Return to the prayer each evening for a week, and notice what changes in how you sleep.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps Israel neither slumber nor sleep watch over this business and over the one who carries it tonight. May He grant rest that is deeper than the work, and wake you with fresh courage for the day ahead. May His peace guard your heart and the hearts of everyone who depends on you.
