This night prayer is for the decisions weighing on you as the day ends: the choices still unsettled, the options you keep turning over, and the fear that you might choose wrongly. It is meant to be prayed in the evening or at bedtime, when the house is quiet and the mind is still busy. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the same spirit.

Night Prayer for My Decisions

Father, the day is closing and I am bringing You the decisions I have not settled. I have replayed the options again and again: the job offer, the money I need to spend or save, the conversation I keep postponing, the choice about where my family should live. Some nights my thoughts run in circles, and I wake up tired from deciding in my sleep. Tonight I set those circles down. I am not asking You to make every choice vanish, but I am asking You to be in each one with me.

Lord, You know what I cannot see. You know the consequences I fear and the ones I hope for. Where I have been impatient, slow Me down. Where I have been afraid, steady my heart. Show me what is wise, and give me the honesty to admit when I already know the answer but have not wanted to act on it. Guard my mind while I sleep so that rest comes before I have resolved everything. Let whatever I decide tomorrow be shaped by Your character, not by my worry or my pride.

Thank You that You are not surprised by tomorrow. Thank You for the people who advise me and the peace You have given me even in uncertain things. I release the weight of this decision into Your hands for the night. Watch over me, keep my family safe, and wake me with a clearer heart. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired of going over this decision again. I give You the choice I cannot settle tonight. Quiet my mind, guard my rest, and show me the next honest step when morning comes. Help me trust that You are with me in what I decide. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray these words when you feel tempted to rely only on your own reasoning. Ask God to help you lean on Him more than on your own certainty, and to make your paths straight as you decide.

James 1:5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

(WEB)

Bring this verse to God as a direct request for wisdom. Name the specific decision in front of you and ask Him to give you what you lack, trusting that He answers generously.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

Use this verse to quiet the anxious rush of your thoughts before sleep. Pause, breathe slowly, and let the words remind you that God is in control even while you are still unsure.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Turn your worries about the decision into specific prayers of thanks and requests. As you do, ask God to guard your heart and mind with the peace that goes beyond what you can understand.

Psalm 121:3-4

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

(WEB)

Pray this as a promise of protection through the night. Ask the Lord to keep watch over you while you rest, trusting that you do not have to stay awake guarding every outcome.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a regular time in the evening, after the lights are low and before you reach for your phone. Sit on the edge of the bed or in a quiet chair, and keep a small notebook nearby. Read the prayer slowly, and when you come to a line that names your situation, pause and write down the one decision you most want to bring to God that night. Keeping the list short helps your mind rest instead of spinning.

If you share a home or are praying for a spouse, friend or family member facing a decision, you can pray it together or read it over them while they rest. Let someone you trust know which decision you are praying about, so they can pray with you and check in on how you are doing in the days that follow.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps watch over you give you rest tonight and clear wisdom in the morning. May He steady the heart that feels pulled in many directions and remind you that you are held by Him. Go to sleep knowing that the decision will be walked through with grace, one honest step at a time.
