This is a Christian prayer for the employees you oversee, whether you run a small shop, manage a team, or lead a company with many people under you. It works well to pray before the workday begins, before a difficult meeting, or during a quiet moment when you are thinking about the people who depend on your fairness and care. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak from your own knowledge of each person.

Christian Prayer for My Employees

Lord, you see every person who walks through the door I help to open each morning. Thank you for the people who work alongside me, with their own families, worries, health concerns, and hopes that I may never fully know. Give me eyes to notice when someone is struggling and the humility to ask rather than assume. Keep me from treating anyone as a number on a schedule or a line on a budget.

Father, give each of my employees rest that is real and not only a day off on paper. Steady those who are anxious about bills, a sick parent, or a child who is far from home. Protect them on their drives and their commutes, and guard their bodies from injury on the job. Where I have been impatient, harsh, or careless with my words, forgive me, and help me make things right with the people I have hurt.

Lord, make me a fair and honest leader. Let my decisions about pay, hours, promotions, and discipline be guided by your justice rather than by my convenience or my moods. Give my employees work that uses their gifts and gives them dignity, and let the work we do together serve people well. Whatever this business earns, let it be used for good and not held in greed. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I bring my employees before you right now. Watch over each one as they work, drive home, and rest. Give them strength for what is hard today and peace where they are worried. Help me lead them with fairness, patience, and honest words. Use our work to care for the people we serve. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Pray this for your employees so that each person’s work is seen as something offered to God, not only as a task for a boss. Ask that it shape how they approach even the most routine duties.

Proverbs 11:1

A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but accurate weights are his delight.

(WEB)

Pray this over your own dealings with employees, asking God to keep your books, your schedules, and your promises honest. Let honesty become a habit people can trust.

Philippians 2:3-4

3 Doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; 4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

(WEB)

Pray this for humility in how you lead, asking that you would notice the needs of others above your own convenience. Ask God to reveal where you have been looking past someone.

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

(WEB)

Pray this as a short summary of what God asks of a leader: justice, mercy, and walking humbly. Ask him to make these qualities visible in how you treat each person on your team.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Pray this for employees who are exhausted, overloaded, or burned out. Ask Jesus to draw them to himself and to give them rest that goes deeper than a weekend away from the office.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many leaders find the best time is early in the morning, before email and phone calls begin to pull attention in every direction. Sit at your desk or in your car with a cup of coffee, and read the prayer slowly. If you have a particular employee on your mind, pause after the main prayer and speak their name aloud, adding one concern you know they are facing.

You might also pray this before a performance review, a hard conversation, or a layoff announcement, when your own nerves are high. Consider sharing the shorter version with a trusted friend, pastor, or prayer partner, and ask them to pray for your team in the same way. Keeping a simple list of names in your planner can help you return to them week after week.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless each of these people with steady strength, a sense of purpose in their work, and families who feel loved. May he guard them when they travel and when they are alone. May they know they are seen and valued, and may their leader be a person who points them back to God’s goodness.
