This is a Christian prayer for my health, written for the times when your body feels weak, your diagnosis is still unclear, or you simply want to bring your physical well-being before God. You can pray it in the morning before the day begins, in a waiting room, or late at night when sleep will not come. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the spaces it leaves open.

Christian Prayer for My Health

Lord, you formed my body with care, and you know every part of it better than I do. Today I bring you my health, the things I can feel and the things I cannot yet see. I ask for healing where there is sickness, strength where I am weary, and peace where I am afraid of what the doctors might find. Guide the hands of those who treat me, give wisdom to every test and every decision, and let me rest in your faithfulness whatever the next report says.

Father, I also ask for patience with my own body and with myself. Help me to rest when I need rest, to eat and move in ways that honor the life you have given me, and to speak kindly to myself when I fall short. Surround me with people who pray for me and who will sit with me in the hard hours. Above all, remind me that my health is held in your hands, and that you are near to me now. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and worried about my health right now. Be near to me, heal what is broken, and steady what is shaking. Give the doctors wisdom, give me rest, and give me peace that does not depend on the news I hear today. Thank you that you see me, and that you have not left me alone with this. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; 3 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases…

Use this passage to thank God for the healing you have already seen, even small mercies, before you ask for more. Naming past kindnesses can steady your heart when the present feels uncertain.

Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O the LORD, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise.

Pray this verse as a plain request, telling God exactly where you need healing. The prophet’s honesty gives you permission to bring your pain directly to him without dressing it up.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Read this slowly when fear about your health starts to crowd out everything else. Let each phrase become a sentence you speak back to God, asking him to hold you steady.

James 5:14-15

14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

(WEB)

Pray this passage with others if you are able, asking your church community to join you in prayer. It reminds you that caring for your health includes being carried by the body of Christ.

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.

(WEB)

Let this verse become a prayer for your whole life, body and soul together. It is a gentle reminder that God cares about your wellbeing in every part.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helpful to pray this prayer first thing in the morning, before checking messages or thinking about appointments. Sit somewhere quiet, with a cup of tea or a glass of water in your hands, and read it slowly. You might also keep it written on a card in your bag or on your phone, so you can pray it during a wait for test results or in the car before a hospital visit.

Consider inviting a family member, friend, or pastor to pray it with you, or to pray it over you in your absence. Hearing someone else speak these words can be a comfort when your own voice feels tired. Afterward, take a moment to notice one small thing your body can do well today, and thank God for it.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who made your body keep watch over your health and your rest. May he give strength to your heart, peace to your mind, and healing where you most need it. May you know that you are not alone, and that the God who sees you is faithful in every season of this trouble.
