This simple prayer for my siblings is written for the moments when you want to bring your brothers and sisters before God but do not know where to begin. You can pray it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add the names and needs that are on your heart. It works well in the morning, before a family gathering, or whenever a phone call leaves you worried about someone you love.

Simple Prayer for My Siblings

Father, thank You for the brothers and sisters You have given me. Some of them I have known since the first days of my life, and some of them I have learned to know through years of shared meals, long car rides, and hard conversations. Thank You that they are part of my story. Thank You for the memories we share, even the ones that make us laugh until we cry and the ones we would rather forget.

Lord, I bring each of them to You now. Be near to the ones who are carrying heavy burdens, whether it is work that drains them, money that feels tight, a marriage under strain, or children who are growing up too fast. Give them rest where they are weary and wisdom where they feel lost. Heal the wounds that have never fully closed, and soften any bitterness that has crept between us. Help us to forgive quickly and to speak kindly, even when we disagree. Where we have hurt each other, show us the next step toward peace. Keep us close in heart, even when distance or busy lives keep us apart. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, watch over my brothers and sisters today. Be their strength where they are tired, their comfort where they are hurting, and their peace where they are anxious. Guard their hearts and draw us closer to each other and to You. Thank You that You know each of them by name. Amen.

(WEB)

Paul calls believers to affection and honor for one another. Pray this verse by naming a sibling and asking God to help you show them warmth and respect in the way you speak and act this week.

Ephesians 4:32

And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

(WEB)

Galatians 6:2

Philippians 2:3-4

3 Doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself; 4 each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.

(WEB)

Paul urges humility and a willingness to look to the interests of others. Pray this for your family, asking God to form in each of you a habit of putting the others first with gentleness.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it easiest to pray this prayer in the early morning, with a cup of coffee in hand and the house still quiet. You might keep a short list of your siblings’ names on a card or in your phone, and touch each name as you pray. If one sibling is especially on your mind, pause on that name longer and let the words of the prayer shape what you ask for them.

You can also invite someone else to pray with you, such as a spouse, a close friend, or a parent who knows the family well. Sharing the prayer with another person can turn a private habit into a small act of family unity, and it gives you someone to check in with about how your siblings are doing.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless each brother and sister and keep them. May He make His face shine upon them and give them peace in the hard places and joy in the ordinary ones. May the love of God hold this family close, even across the miles, and may each of them know they are never alone.
