This short morning prayer is for the moment doubt wakes up before you do, when the to-do list, the unanswered messages and the old fears crowd in before your feet touch the floor. Pray it first thing, while the house is still quiet, and read it aloud as written or use it as a starting point and put your own words to the day ahead.
Short Morning Prayer for Overcoming Doubt
Lord, I wake up and my mind is already full of questions. Will this work out? Am I doing enough? Did I get something wrong yesterday that I can’t undo? Before I reach for my phone or the coffee maker, I bring those questions to you. You already know the answers I don’t have, and you already know the people and tasks I will meet today.
Help me hold onto what I know to be true about you, even when my feelings say otherwise. When I doubt your care for me, remind me of the ways you have carried me before. When I doubt my own ability to handle the meeting, the conversation with my child, or the work waiting on my desk, give me the next small step rather than the whole mountain. Quiet the voice that says I am alone with this.
Go with me into this day. Steady my hands and my tongue, and give me patience with the people I will see, especially the ones who are hard to love. Let my doubts send me back to you instead of away from you. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, my doubts are loud this morning. I give them to you one by one, and I ask you to be stronger than them. Help me take the next right step today, and remind me that you are with me in it. Thank you for listening before I have finished speaking. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a time before the rest of the household wakes, or the moment you first sit down with a cup of something warm. Keep a notebook or a note on your phone nearby, and write down the one or two specific doubts that feel strongest that morning. Read the prayer aloud, pausing after each paragraph to name those doubts before God.
If you share your home with a spouse, a child or a roommate, you might pray this together, or ask a friend to pray it for you on a day when your own words feel scarce. Keep your hands busy in a simple way, perhaps resting one palm on the table or holding your Bible, so your body stays with your prayer while your mind wanders.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord steady the heart of anyone who wakes today with doubt in their chest. May he meet them in the first hour and walk with them through every meeting, errand and conversation. May they know, when the day grows long, that they are held, and that the one who is faithful this morning will be faithful tonight.
