This prayer is for the days when your energy has run out and you need God to restore what you cannot manufacture on your own. Pray it in the morning before the day’s demands begin, or at any point when fatigue, discouragement, or the weight of ordinary responsibilities leaves you feeling spent. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own honest words in place of any line that does not fit your situation.

Daily Prayer for Renewed Strength

Lord, I come to you tired. Some of this tiredness is physical: the alarm that came too early, the sleep that never felt deep enough, the body that keeps asking for more than I have to give. Some of it is quieter. It is the weight of decisions I am carrying, the conversations I keep putting off, and the worry that I am failing the people who depend on me. I do not want to pretend I am stronger than I am.

So I ask you to renew what is worn down in me. Give me strength for the hours that are ahead, not a borrowed strength that will collapse by noon, but a steady supply that comes from you. Steady my hands for the work in front of me. Quiet my mind when it starts to race through everything that could go wrong. Give me patience with the people who are hard to love today, including the part of me that is hardest to love. Help me notice the small mercies you place in my path, like a kind word, a clear sky, or a moment of unexpected rest.

Where I have been trusting my own effort more than your help, forgive me and turn me back toward you. Remind me that you do not grow weary, and that the strength I need is available as I depend on you, one day at a time. Let me walk into this day with enough for what it asks, and let me come back to you tonight to rest. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am running on empty right now. Give me strength for the next hour, and then for the hour after that. Steady my breathing, calm my thoughts, and help me take the next faithful step. I trust you to carry what I cannot. Renew me in this moment, and let me rest in your care. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Pray this verse by naming the specific tasks that feel impossible right now, then asking God to lift you above them rather than simply through them. Let the picture of waiting on the Lord shape the way you approach the day.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

When your body or heart is failing, speak this verse slowly and admit where you feel weakest. Thank God that his presence is the foundation you return to when your own reserves are gone.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Read this passage as a reminder that yesterday’s mercies do not run out. Ask God to show you his fresh faithfulness this morning, and receive each new day as a gift rather than a burden to endure.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

Pray this when you feel ashamed of your limits. Confess where you have been hiding your weakness, and ask God to let his grace be enough for the part of you that feels inadequate.

Psalm 27:14

Wait for the LORD. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for the LORD.

(WEB)

Use this verse when you are tempted to give up or rush ahead in frustration. Ask God to give you courage to wait well, and to keep your heart steady while you wait for his help to arrive.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helpful to pray this prayer first thing in the morning, while still sitting on the edge of the bed or at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in hand. Holding something warm and steady while you speak can anchor your attention when your mind wants to drift toward the to-do list. If you are at work or caring for others, you might pray the shorter version silently before a meeting, a difficult phone call, or a moment with your children.

A spouse, a close friend, or a small group can also pray this prayer with you, taking turns reading a paragraph each. Hearing someone else speak your weariness back to God can be a gentle reminder that you are not carrying it alone. Pray it again in the evening if the day has drained you, and let the words become a rhythm you return to whenever you need strength.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who never grows weary meet you in the place where you are tired and give you what you need for the hours ahead. May he steady your steps, refresh your spirit, and remind you that you are held. Rest in his strength today, and let it be enough.
