This short morning prayer is for anyone who wakes up feeling overlooked, unnoticed or unremembered, whether by friends, family, a workplace, or even by the people who should know them best. Pray it first thing, before the phone lights up with other people’s news and before the day’s demands begin. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the spaces it leaves open.
Short Morning Prayer for Those Who Feel Forgotten
Lord, I wake up this morning and the first thing I notice is how quiet the house feels, and how quiet my phone is. I have been wondering whether anyone thinks of me today. Some people I expected to call have not called. Some tasks I carried yesterday are still waiting, and nobody has asked how I am carrying them. Be near me before I reach for anything else.
Father, you know my name, and you know the number of hairs on my head and the tired ache behind my eyes. Remind me that my worth does not rise and fall with how often I am invited, texted or thanked. Meet me in the coffee I am making, in the drive to work, in the faces I will pass in the hallway. Let me see the people around me clearly and let me be seen by you.
Give me courage to speak up when I need help and grace to be patient when I feel passed over. If anyone is thinking of me today, bless them. If no one is, let me find in you the attention I am longing for. Walk with me through every hour I have ahead, and keep my heart from believing the lie that I have been left behind. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I feel forgotten this morning, and I am asking you to remember me. Show me that you see me in this quiet kitchen, on this crowded commute and in every conversation I will have today. Give me the strength to ask for what I need, and open my eyes to the people who are already close. Let me rest in knowing I am never out of your sight. Amen.
Scriptures to Pray Alongside
Psalm 139:1-3
1 The LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

Pray these lines slowly when you feel unnoticed, letting each phrase name a truth about God’s knowledge of you. Ask him to make that knowledge feel as real as the room you are standing in before your first meeting or errand.
Isaiah 49:15-16
15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you! 16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. your walls are continually before me.

Read this passage as God speaking to a people who felt abandoned. Bring your own sense of being overlooked to him and ask him to write your name, in your mind, on the palms of his hands.
Psalm 34:18
The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

Use this verse to ask God to draw near in the particular hurt you are carrying this morning. Name that hurt plainly before him, trusting that he is close to the brokenhearted.
Matthew 6:26
See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?

Let Jesus’s words about the birds turn your eyes toward the ordinary ways God provides. As you go about your morning, pray that you would notice his care in small, daily things.
Hebrews 13:5
Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”

Pray this promise back to God, asking him to keep you from the loneliness that tells you no one is with you. Thank him that his presence is not dependent on how others treat you.
How to Pray This Prayer
Pray it in the first ten minutes after you wake, while the day is still quiet and before your phone has filled your attention. Sit at the kitchen table or on the edge of the bed with a cup of something warm in your hands, and let your fingers rest on the mug as you speak. Keep your Bible or a simple notebook close so you can write down one line that stands out to you.
If you feel too low to pray on your own, ask a trusted friend, pastor or family member to pray it with you by phone or over a short message. Being remembered by someone who is also praying for you can help the words feel less lonely. Come back to it tomorrow morning, and whenever you feel forgotten again.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who sees you lift the weight of being overlooked from your shoulders today. May he remind you that you are known, named and kept in his care. May the people who love you find their way to you, and may you feel his presence walking beside you in every hour ahead.
