This short morning prayer for good health is written to be prayed as you wake, before the day’s demands begin. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where your body and your worries are asking for something specific. Either way, it is meant to put your health into God’s hands before you reach for your phone or your coffee.

Short Morning Prayer for Good Health

Lord, thank you for this new morning. Before I think about anything else, I want to acknowledge that my body is yours and that you know every part of it better than I do. Thank you that I woke up breathing, that my heart kept beating through the night, and that I can sit up and see the light coming in. I ask you to guard my health today. Strengthen my heart, steady my breathing, and keep my blood pressure, my blood sugar, and my energy where they need to be. Where there is pain or weakness I am aware of, I bring it to you by name.

Be with the people I will meet today, and with the ones I love who are unwell or waiting on test results. Give them peace and give their doctors wisdom. Help me to eat well, move my body, rest when I am tired, and stop when I am pushing too hard. Protect me from accidents on the road, from careless germs, and from the habits that quietly wear me down. Teach me to treat my body as a gift and not as something I can ignore. Let my health be a place where your strength shows up in ordinary ways. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I start this day in your care. Keep my body strong, my mind clear, and my heart steady. Watch over my health and the health of the people I love, and give me sense about what I eat, how I rest, and when I need help. Thank you for every breath. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; 3 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases…

(WEB)

Pray this as you wake, thanking God first for the benefits you already have, including healing and forgiveness. It sets your heart in gratitude before you ask for more.

Jeremiah 30:17

For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds,” says the LORD; “because they have called you an outcast, saying, ‘It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.’”

(WEB)

Use this verse for any sickness or weakness you are carrying into the day. Name the specific ailment and ask God to restore what has been broken.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

Pray this when you feel tired before the day has even begun. Ask God to give you the strength you cannot find in yourself.

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.

(WEB)

Pray this over your body as a whole, asking that your health would match the spiritual life God is already growing in you. Keep it short and sincere.

Proverbs 3:7-8

7 Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.

(WEB)

Pray this as a reminder to walk humbly and fear the Lord rather than trusting only your own schedule. Ask God to bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer while you are still in bed or while you are sitting in the first quiet minutes of your day, before you check messages or read the news. Keep a glass of water on the nightstand and lift it as you pray, letting the simple act of drinking remind you that God cares about the small things your body needs. If you have a morning medication, vitamin, or breakfast to take, let the prayer carry you straight into that moment.

You can also pray this with someone else. A spouse, a roommate, or a friend can take turns reading a line each, and you can add the names of anyone in your household who is sick or recovering. Praying together makes it easier to remember the people who are not in the room with you, and it keeps your health from becoming a private worry you carry alone.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who made your body keep you well in body, mind, and spirit today. May he steady your steps, strengthen your heart, and give you rest when you need it. May you rise each morning knowing that your health is held in the hands of a faithful God.
