This short morning prayer is for your wife, and it is meant to be prayed before the day gets loud. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to the things on your mind. Pray it over coffee, in the car before work, or in the quiet minutes before anyone else wakes up.
Short Morning Prayer for My Wife
Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of my wife. Before she steps into her day, I ask you to meet her in the first moments of it. Be near her as she gets out of bed, as she makes breakfast or gets the kids ready, and as she checks her phone for messages she is dreading. Give her a steady heart and a clear mind. Let her feel your presence before anything else asks for her attention.
Father, you know the work waiting for her today, the meetings, the errands, the to-do list that never seems to shrink. You know the people she will care for and the conversations that might be hard. Give her wisdom for each decision and patience for each interruption. When she is tired, be her strength. When she is anxious, be her peace. Keep her from carrying what only you can hold.
Lord, I also ask you to bless her body, her spirit and her hopes for the future. Guard her health, and remind her that she is loved beyond what she accomplishes today. Help me to be a good partner to her this morning and through the hours ahead, gentle with her and quick to encourage. Let our home be a place of rest when she returns. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, bless my wife as she starts this day. Go before her into every meeting, every task and every hard conversation. Give her what she needs, when she needs it, and let her rest in your love. Guard her heart and mind, and help me to love her well today. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer at the same time each morning, perhaps while your wife is still getting ready or while you share a cup of coffee together. If she is awake, you might hold her hand or rest a hand on her shoulder while you speak. If she is still asleep, pray quietly beside her or in another room, and let your words be a gift you give her before she knows about it.
It can also help to pray with someone else, such as a friend, a small group or your children if they are old enough to join in. Ask them to pray for her work, her health and her relationships during the day. Then, when you see her in the evening, ask her how the day went and listen for what the Lord may have done in the hours between.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before her this morning and walk beside her all day. May his peace settle over her heart, and may she know that she is deeply loved, known and kept.
