This is a Christian prayer for my children, written so you can pray it aloud over your sons and daughters whenever worry, gratitude or a plain sense of responsibility rises up in you. It works in the morning before school, at a bedside at night, or in a quiet moment in the car. Read it word for word, or use it as a starting point and let your own words follow where your heart leads.
Christian Prayer for My Children
Father, I bring my children to you today. You knew each of them before they were born, and you know the names of their friends, the fears they haven’t told me about, and the questions they are still learning to ask. I don’t have to understand all of it to trust you with it. Give them a steady sense of your love that doesn’t depend on how the day goes. When they feel small, remind them they are seen. When they feel proud, humble them gently and keep them close.
Protect them from harm they can see and from harm they cannot. Guard their hearts from cruelty, their minds from lies about who they are, and their bodies from what would hurt them. Give them good friends who will tell them the truth and wise adults who will listen. Where they are struggling with school, with a friendship, or with their own choices, give them patience with themselves and courage to ask for help. Let them grow into people who are kind, honest and brave, and let them find their deepest security in you. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, watch over my children today. Keep them safe on the road, at school and wherever their feet take them. Give them wisdom for the choices in front of them and a tender heart toward the people around them. Hold them when I cannot, and let them know beyond any doubt that you are near. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Many parents find it helpful to pray this prayer at a set time, such as while the kids are eating breakfast or just after you tuck them in at night. Keep a pen nearby and write down the names of your children and the specific concern you want to name before God. Over weeks you will see how he answers, and that record becomes a source of encouragement for both you and them.
You do not have to pray alone. Invite a spouse, a grandparent, a pastor or a trusted friend to pray this with you, or ask them to pray for your children on the days you feel weakest. When you are ready, you can also read a few of these lines aloud to your children themselves, so they hear that they are being prayed for by name.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless the children in your home and keep them in his care. May he make his face shine on them, give them grace for each day, and give them peace that goes deeper than any worry. Wherever their path leads, may they never walk it without him.
