This is a Christian prayer for peace and healing, written to bring a worried or wounded heart before God. You can pray it in the quiet of the morning, in a hospital waiting room, or late at night when sleep will not come. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where the prayer falls short of what you feel.

Christian Prayer for Peace and Healing

Lord, you know the state of my body and my heart this morning. You know the pain I have been carrying, the test results I am waiting for, the sleepless hours and the fear that comes with them. I do not want to pretend I am fine. I bring you the ache in my chest, the tiredness in my bones, and the worry that keeps running through my thoughts before I can stop it.

Give me your peace, the kind that holds steady when circumstances do not change. Calm the racing thoughts that tell me the worst is coming. Touch my body with your healing, whether that means restored strength, relief from pain, or the patience to wait while doctors and medicine do their work. Be near to the people who love me and who are tired from watching me suffer. Let them rest in your care too.

I trust you with what I cannot fix. Remind me that you are not surprised by this, and that you have not left me to face it alone. Hold me, heal what can be healed, and steady me for whatever comes next. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am anxious and I am hurting, and I need your peace right now. Quiet the fear in my mind and ease the pain in my body if it is your will. Give me strength for the next hour, and help me trust that you hold the days ahead. Heal me, and keep me close to you. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul moves from worry straight into prayer and thanksgiving. When anxiety rises, pray the verse slowly, asking God to replace the fear with the peace that only he gives.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

This verse names God as the one who binds up broken hearts and tends to wounds. Pray it when you feel emotionally crushed, asking him to do the tender work of mending what hurts.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

(WEB)

The promise here is peace for a mind that stays fixed on God. Use this verse when your thoughts keep drifting toward worst-case outcomes, and bring your attention back to him one phrase at a time.

Psalm 30:2

The LORD my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me.

(WEB)

The psalmist remembers crying out and being healed. Pray this verse as a way of telling God plainly that you need him, and trusting that he hears when you call.

James 5:13-15

13 Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

(WEB)

James encourages believers to pray for one another in sickness and to call on the church for support. Let this passage shape your prayer for both your own healing and for those who stand with you.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when you can be still, such as first thing after waking or just before bed. Sit somewhere comfortable, or kneel if that helps you focus. Some people find it easier to hold a cup of tea, a Bible, or a prayer shawl in their hands while they pray, letting the physical act anchor the words. Read the prayer slowly, pausing after each sentence to notice what rises in you, whether that is relief, grief, or simply the wish to be better.

If you are praying on behalf of someone who is sick or struggling, invite a trusted friend, family member, or pastor to pray the prayer with you or over you. Ask them to read it aloud while you listen, or to add their own petitions. Shared prayer can lift a weight that feels too heavy to carry alone, and it reminds you that you are part of a larger body of believers who are asking God for mercy with you.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who heals and keeps you give you his peace that goes beyond understanding. May he strengthen what is weak, comfort what is hurting, and guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Rest now in his care, knowing he is near and faithful.
