This is a daily prayer for my parents’ health, written for the moments when you feel the weight of their aging bodies, their doctor visits, and the phone calls you dread. You can pray it each morning before the day starts, in the car on the way to see them, or at night when the house is quiet. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Daily Prayer for My Parents’ Health
Lord, you know every heartbeat, every breath, and every ache my mother and father carry today. You knit them together in their mothers’ wombs, and you have kept them through all the years since. I bring them to you now, not because I have the answers, but because I trust that you do. Be near to them in the small hours when pain keeps them awake, and in the afternoons when fatigue makes everything feel heavier than it should.
Give wisdom to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who look after them. Guide every test, every medication, and every decision about their treatment. Where there is fear in their hearts or in mine, replace it with a peace that does not depend on good news. Strengthen their bodies where you choose to strengthen them, and give them grace where healing is not yet come. Help me to be honest with you about what I want for them, and help me to trust your timing and your love. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I ask for my mother and father’s health today. Ease their pain, steady their hands and feet, and let them sleep well tonight. Put your good hands on the doctors and the medicines, and give them each a sense of your nearness. When I cannot do anything else, let me rest in the fact that you are already at work in their lives. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a time that fits your rhythm, such as just after you make coffee or before you check your phone. Sitting at a kitchen table or standing by a window works well, and some people find it helpful to hold a photo of their parents while they pray. Keeping a small notebook nearby lets you record what you notice each day, so you can thank God for improvements and bring persistent concerns back to him.
You can also invite a sibling, a friend, or a church small group to pray this prayer with you, either in person or by phone. Sharing the words with someone else reminds you that you do not carry your parents’ health alone, and it gives you a companion for the days when your own faith feels thin.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord hold your parents in the palm of his hand each day, and may his peace guard their hearts and minds. May he be to you a steady source of strength as you care for them. Go in his keeping, and rest knowing that he loves them more than you ever could.
