This morning prayer is written for a parent who wants to bring their daughter before God at the start of the day, asking for her safety, her heart, and her steps ahead of her. Pray it early, while the house is quiet, or in the car on the way to school or work. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the spaces it leaves open.

Morning Prayers for My Daughter

Father, I bring my daughter to you at the start of this day. Before she opens her eyes fully, before the alarm, the messages, and the noise of the hours begin, I ask that you would already be at work in her life. Go before her into her classes, her job, her friendships, and her quiet moments alone. Give her a clear mind when she needs to focus and a steady heart when things feel uncertain.

Protect her body and her mind from harm, both the kind she can see and the kind that creeps in unnoticed. Guard her from comparison, from fear, and from words that tear down who she is. Where she feels unsure of herself today, remind her whose she is. Where she is tempted to hurry past you, slow her down enough to listen. Let her meet people today who treat her with kindness, and help her be that kindness to someone else. Lord, I release her to your care, trusting you with the hours I cannot see. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, you know what my daughter faces today. Walk with her into every conversation, every test, every decision, and every hard hour. Keep her safe, keep her honest, and keep her close to you. Let her feel your peace in the middle of the rush, and let her know she is loved before she does anything at all. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Numbers 6:24-26

24 ‘The LORD bless you, and keep you. 25 The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. 26 The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’

(WEB)

Pray this blessing over your daughter as you start her day, asking the Lord to keep her, shine his favor on her, and give her his peace. Speak it slowly so she can hear the words as a gift.

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

Ask God to guard your daughter as she goes out and comes in today, in the places you know and the places you cannot see. Thank him that his watch over her does not end when she leaves your sight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray that your daughter will trust the Lord with her plans for the day, even the ones that feel uncertain. Ask him to make her paths straight when her own understanding runs out.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Ask God to renew your daughter’s strength for the tasks ahead, especially the ones that tire her. Pray that she would wait on the Lord in quiet moments and find strength rising where it had run thin.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Bring your daughter’s worries to God by name, asking that his peace would guard her heart and mind. Pray that anxious thoughts would be handed over to him early, before they grow heavy.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many parents find it helps to pray this over their daughter at the kitchen table with a cup of something warm, or in the car in the driveway just before she heads into her day. Choose the same time each morning if you can, so it becomes a steady rhythm you both can count on. If she is old enough, you might pray it with her at breakfast and let her add her own requests.

Keep a note on your phone or a card in your bag with a few specific names and needs written down, such as a presentation, a difficult coworker, or a friend going through something hard. Let your hands hold the card or rest on the table as you pray, and invite others, like a spouse, a grandparent, or a close friend, to pray the same words for her on the days you cannot.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless your daughter and keep her in every step she takes today. May his face shine warmly upon her, and may she walk in grace, courage, and peace from the first hour to the last.
