This night prayer for daily provision is for the end of the day, when you are tired and want to hand God the things you could not finish, afford, or fix. Pray it at bedtime, while the house is quiet or as you lie down, to rest in the truth that the Lord who fed yesterday will supply tomorrow. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own needs in the same spirit.

Night Prayer for Daily Provision

Father, the day is ending, and I bring You everything I carried through it. I thought about the bills, the groceries, the work I did not get to, and the money that seemed to disappear before it arrived. Some of it I handled well, and some of it I handled poorly. Tonight I set it all down on Your table and ask You to take what I cannot carry.

Thank You for the food on our table today and for the roof over our heads. Thank You for the small ways You met us that I almost missed: a phone call at the right moment, a kindness from a coworker, a bill that came in lower than I feared. Help me notice these gifts instead of only the gaps. Where we are lacking, supply what we need, and give us wisdom about what to spend, what to save, and what to let go.

Watch over us through the night. Guard our sleep, quiet our worry, and keep us from lying awake rehearsing tomorrow’s problems. Tomorrow has enough trouble of its own, and I trust You to go before me into it. Give me rest tonight, and wake me with a clear mind and a grateful heart. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and I have run out of ideas for tomorrow. Thank You for what You gave me today. Please provide what we need for the coming day, and show me what to do with what I have. Keep us safe while we sleep, and let me rest in Your care. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Matthew 6:11

Give us today our daily bread.

(WEB)

Jesus taught His followers to ask for daily bread, not a year’s supply. Pray this verse by naming the specific needs of today and asking God to meet them, then trust Him for tomorrow’s portion when it comes.

Psalm 23:1-3

1 The LORD is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

(WEB)

David describes God as a shepherd who leads his sheep to rest and restores their strength. Pray these lines slowly, letting the image of green pasture and still water settle over the anxieties of the day.

Philippians 4:19

My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul writes that God will supply every need according to His riches. Use this verse to bring specific financial or practical needs before God, naming each one and asking Him to meet it in His way and timing.

Psalm 121:3-4

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

(WEB)

The psalmist says the one who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. Pray this as you close your eyes, asking God to keep watch over your household while you rest, so that you do not have to.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

In the middle of a ruined city, Jeremiah remembers that God’s mercies are new every morning. Pray this verse when yesterday felt like a failure, trusting that tomorrow’s mercy is already waiting for you.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer after the lights are low and before you reach for your phone, ideally in the same place each night, such as the edge of your bed or a chair by the window. Keep a small notebook on the nightstand and write down the specific needs you name. Returning to the list in a week shows you how many of those prayers God has answered, which strengthens trust for the next night.

If you are praying for someone else, such as a spouse, child, or friend who is struggling financially, read the prayer aloud together or pray it on their behalf while they sleep. Hold something in your hands while you pray, like a folded bill, a grocery list, or a worn Bible, so that your body joins your heart in releasing the day to God.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who provides for every sparrow and every seed provide for you tonight. May He stand guard over your household, quiet every worry, and give you sleep that restores. May you wake to a morning of His mercy, with enough for the day and a heart full of thanks.
