This prayer is for the person who runs a business and wants to bring its daily decisions, payroll worries, customers and future before God. It works well first thing in the morning before you open the email inbox, or at the end of a long day when the books still need checking. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own names and needs into the blanks.

Prayer for My Business

Lord, you are the owner of everything I have and everything I am building. I bring this business to you today, with its hopes and its weight. Thank you for the work you have already done through it, for the customers who trust us, for the employees who show up and do their best, and for the provision that has carried us this far. Give me clear thinking when I make decisions about money, hiring and pricing. Keep me honest in every contract, invoice and promise I make.

Where I am anxious about cash flow, slow months or a deal that might fall through, quiet my heart and remind me that I am not the only one holding this. Guard my family from being crushed by my stress, and help me to be present with them when I am home. Bless our customers with real value, and let our work serve their good rather than only our gain. If we are to grow, let it be in ways that honor you. If we are to be smaller for a season, teach me to trust you in that too. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, this business is yours before it is mine. Steady my hands for the next task, give me wisdom for the decision in front of me, and bless the people who depend on our work. Keep me honest, keep me patient and keep me close to you while the day runs fast. Thank you that you see every invoice, every phone call and every worry. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray this when a business decision feels too big to make alone. Ask God to direct the steps you take, not only the ones you already planned.

Psalm 90:17

Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

(WEB)

Ask that the work of your hands would be established. Name the specific projects, products or services you are building, and ask God to give them lasting purpose.

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Use this verse to shift your focus from pleasing customers or chasing numbers to doing good work for the Lord. Let it reshape how you approach even the smallest task.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.

(WEB)

Commit your plans to the Lord as a daily habit. Before a new launch, a hire or a budget decision, pray this verse over your plans and ask God to establish them.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

When money worries and deadlines press in, bring each one to God in prayer with thanksgiving. Ask for the peace that guards your mind when the outcome is uncertain.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a set time, such as before you unlock the office door, during your lunch break or in the car before a difficult meeting. Keep a printed copy or a note on your phone so you can pray it when pressure rises. If you have a business partner, manager or spouse involved in the work, pray it together once a week and let them add their own concerns.

It also helps to pray with your hands busy in a way that keeps you grounded. Walk through the shop floor, hold a cup of coffee while you read the verses, or write the names of your staff and key clients on a card and place it beside your keyboard. Each time you see the card, pause and pray for those people by name.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who owns every good thing guide the decisions of this business and the hands that carry it. May he give wisdom to the one who leads, peace to the family at home, and fair dealing to every customer and employee. May your work be a place where others see his faithfulness.
