This prayer is for anyone who leads, manages, or simply carries responsibility for the people who work under them. It can be prayed at the start of a workday, before a difficult meeting, or during a quiet moment in the car before walking into the office. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Prayer for My Employees

Lord, you know each person on my team by name. You know the ones who arrive early and the ones who came in tired this morning. You know who is worried about a sick parent, who is wondering whether they are doing well enough, and who has quietly carried something heavy that they have not told anyone at work. I ask you to watch over them today. Give them rest where they need it and wisdom where they feel stuck.

Father, help me to see them as you see them, not only as tasks completed or deadlines met. Give me patience when work goes slowly and generosity when someone makes a mistake. Let my words be honest and kind, and let them be fair with the people who depend on my decisions. Protect them from unfair treatment, from fear of losing their livelihood, and from the pressure to compare themselves with others. Where there is conflict between coworkers, bring peace and humility to both sides. Where someone is struggling with health, family, or faith, meet them there and let them feel that they are not alone. Give each of them meaningful work, a sense of dignity in what they do, and enough strength to finish well. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my team is in your hands. Bless each person as they start their day and go home tonight. Give them focus, kindness toward one another, and the courage to ask for help. Help me lead them with patience and integrity, and let my decisions reflect your fairness. Keep them safe and renew their strength. Amen.

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Galatians 6:2

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.

(WEB)

Pray this verse over the way your team speaks to one another, especially in stressful seasons. Ask God to guard their words, so that what they say builds people up and encourages those who hear it.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many leaders find it helpful to pray for their team at a set time, such as during the drive in or with a cup of coffee before the first email is opened. If you have a physical reminder nearby, like a notepad with each person’s name written on it, hold it in your hands as you pray and move through the list slowly. You might also invite a trusted friend or a small group from your church to pray for your employees with you, so the burden is shared and their needs are remembered beyond your own mind.

When you pray for someone by name, pause long enough to think about what you actually know about them. A mention of a child’s recital, a new job offer, or a recent loss can turn a general request into a specific and heartfelt one. Return to this prayer on days when you feel frustrated or distant from your team, and let it gently correct your heart toward compassion.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless every person who works alongside you and keep them steady through each day. May he shine his kindness on their homes, their health, and their hopes, and grant them peace that does not depend on how the week goes. May their work bring them dignity, and may they leave each day knowing they were seen and valued by God.
