This prayer is for the friends in your life, the people you care about and want to see held, healed, guided and loved well. You can pray it when you think of a friend in trouble, when you sit down to intercede during a quiet morning, or when a name comes to mind and you are not sure what to say. Read it aloud as written, or use it as a starting point and pray in your own words about the people on your heart.
Prayer for My Friends
Father, I thank You for the friends You have given me. Some of them I have known for years, and some I have met more recently, but each one is known to You completely. You see the things they carry that I never hear about: the late-night worries, the health scares, the marriages under strain, the jobs that feel precarious, the grief they have not yet put into words. Be near them in those places. Give them rest where they are weary and courage where they are afraid.
Lord, I ask You to be good to my friends in ways they can recognize. Where they feel alone, remind them that You have not forgotten them. Where they are making hard decisions, give them wisdom and a clear sense of the next faithful step. Where they have drifted from You, draw them back gently, without shame. Protect their families, their children and their homes. Bless the work of their hands and let their days hold more joy than they expect.
I also pray that I would be a good friend to them. Make me patient when I am tired, honest when honesty is needed, and quick to listen before I speak. Help me show up when it costs me something. Keep our friendships rooted in You, so that we encourage one another toward love and good works. Hold each of them close today. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I lift up my friends to You right now. You know what each of them is facing today, and You know what they need before they ask. Give them peace where they are anxious, strength where they are worn down, and a sense of Your nearness wherever they are. Bless them, keep them, and let them feel loved by You and by the people around them. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find it helpful to pray for friends in the morning, before the day’s messages and obligations crowd in. Sit somewhere quiet with a cup of coffee, or walk a familiar route. If you have a list of friends, keep it in your notebook or on your phone and work through a few names at a time rather than trying to cover everyone at once.
You might hold a pen or a photo of a friend while you pray, or write their name at the top of a page and jot down what you know about their week. If you are praying with a spouse, a small group or a family member, take turns reading sections aloud. Consider sending a short text afterward saying you prayed for them, which often opens a door to a real conversation.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless your friends and keep them. May He make His face shine upon them and be gracious to them. May they know they are seen, known and loved, and may they walk in peace this day and in the days ahead.
