This prayer is for anyone asking God for peace and healing, whether the need is in your body, your heart, your relationships, or the wider situation you cannot fix on your own. You can pray it in the morning before the day’s demands arrive, in the evening when the house is quiet, or in the middle of a hospital waiting room or a sleepless night. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where they fit better.

Prayer for Peace and Healing

Lord, you know what is weighing on me today. You know the diagnosis that has not yet been explained, the test results I keep rechecking in my mind, the ache that will not go away, and the tiredness that sleep does not fix. You know the worry that wakes me at three in the morning and the fear of what comes next. I bring all of it to you now, not as a polished list but as it really is.

Give me your peace where I have none. Quiet the racing thoughts and steady my breathing. Let your presence be near enough that I can rest even before the answers come. Heal what is broken in my body, and where healing comes more slowly than I hope, give me patience and trust. Touch the relationships that have been strained, the family conflict that keeps me awake, and the people I love who are hurting too. Restore what can be restored, and comfort what cannot.

I ask for healing in body, mind, and spirit, and I ask that you would be the one I lean on most. Remind me that you do not grow weary and that you hold every detail of my life. Help me to take the next small step, to accept help from others, and to hope in your faithfulness even when I cannot yet see the way through. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am anxious and I need your peace right now. Calm my heart, ease the pain in my body, and heal what I cannot heal myself. Be near to me and to everyone I am praying for. Let me rest in your care for this moment, and give me strength for the next one. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul names anxiety and then points to prayer as the place to take it. Pray these words slowly, bringing each specific worry to God by name, and ask him to guard your heart with the peace that goes beyond what you can explain.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

This verse presents God as the one who binds up wounds, both physical and emotional. Use it to pray over a particular injury, illness, or hurt, trusting that God sees exactly where the pain lies.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

(WEB)

The verse links peace to keeping the mind fixed on God. When your thoughts start spiralling, return to this promise and ask God to hold your attention steady on his faithfulness.

Psalm 34:18

The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

(WEB)

Here God draws close to the brokenhearted and the crushed in spirit. Pray this verse for someone who feels alone in grief or discouragement, and ask God to make his nearness known to them.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

(WEB)

Jesus gives a peace that is different from what the world offers. Pray this promise over your fear, asking him to replace it with a settled trust that does not depend on circumstances changing first.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a regular time, such as just after you wake or before you lie down, so the prayer becomes a steady rhythm rather than an emergency measure. Sit somewhere quiet and comfortable, and if your hands need something to do, hold a cup of tea, rest a hand on your chest, or open them palm-up on your lap as a physical sign that you are giving the burden away. Read the prayer once through, then pause after each paragraph to let the words settle before continuing.

You can also pray this prayer with someone else. Ask a friend, a spouse, or a member of your church to pray it with you or over you, especially when your own words run dry. For someone who is sick or caring for a sick person, it can be helpful to read it aloud in the room where they are resting, so the peace being asked for becomes something shared.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who gives peace be near to you in every hour of this season. May he bind up what is hurting, steady what is shaking, and give you the rest that only he can give. May you know that you are seen, held, and not forgotten.
