This short morning prayer is written for parents who want to pray for a teenage daughter before she leaves the house, before the phone starts buzzing and the day’s pressures arrive. Pray it while she is still getting ready, or quietly in your own kitchen before she comes down the stairs. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put her name and her real concerns into your own words.

Short Morning Prayer for a Teenage Daughter

Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of this young woman you have entrusted to me. Before she opens her eyes or checks her messages, I give her day to you. You know the friend who may have hurt her feelings, the test she is dreading, the group chat she cannot stop thinking about, and the question of who she is becoming. Go before her into each class, each locker hallway, each conversation at lunch and each moment she feels small or unsure.

Father, guard her heart from comparison and from the quiet voices that tell her she is not enough. Give her courage to speak kindly and honesty to stand firm when others pull her another way. Help her remember that her worth does not rise or fall with her grades, her reflection or her popularity. Where she is anxious about the future, settle her with the truth that you are already there. Where she is tired of trying, renew her strength for the hours ahead.

I also ask that she would feel my love and your love even when she is short with me at breakfast. Make us people who forgive quickly and speak with grace. Keep her safe on the road, wise with her choices and close to you through all that the day brings. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I hand my daughter’s day to you. Walk with her through her classes, her friendships and her worries. Give her courage to be kind, wisdom to choose well and peace that does not depend on how the day goes. Keep her close to you and let her feel your nearness wherever she goes. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

Pray this over her as she leaves the house. Ask the Lord to guard her going out and coming in, in the small hours of school and everything between.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray that she would trust God with the decisions she faces today, especially the ones she does not yet know how to make, and that he would make her paths clear.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Ask God to replace your daughter’s anxious thoughts with a peace that steadies her when her schedule, her friendships or her worries feel too heavy to carry.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Pray that she would be renewed in strength for each long school day, so that tiredness does not decide how she responds to others or to herself.

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

(WEB)

Bring her cares to God by name this morning, so she can hand over what she is carrying to the one who truly holds it for her.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when you can be still for a minute or two, such as while she is brushing her hair, waiting at the front door, or sitting across from you at breakfast with coffee in your hands. You might rest a hand on the counter or on her shoulder if she is willing, and let the words slow your own pace. If you are not sure what she is facing today, ask her the night before what is coming up, so your prayer can name real things rather than general ones.

Pray it with your spouse, a close friend or another parent who loves her. Hearing others ask God for her protection and growth can remind you that she is held by a whole community, not only by you. Afterward, consider writing a single word about what you prayed in a small notebook, so you can return to it later in the week and notice how God answered.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless her and keep her wherever she goes today. May he make his face shine upon her, give her grace for each hour, and fill her with a steady confidence that she is loved and known. Let her go out into the day carrying the peace of God, and let her return home safe and at rest.
