This short morning prayer is for asking God to watch over the health of the people you love before the day gets busy. Pray it as you wake, over coffee, or in the car before the first drop-off, and read it aloud as written or use it as a starting point for your own words.
Short Morning Prayer for Family Health
Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of another day with the people I love. Before the house gets loud and the schedule takes over, I bring my family to you. I ask for healthy bodies for my spouse, my children, and my parents, and for protection over every one of them as they move through the day. Watch over the little cough that might turn into something more, the headache that comes from a long week, and the tired joints of those who are getting older.
I also ask for wisdom as I make decisions about food, rest, and doctor visits. Help me notice when someone is struggling, and give me the courage to speak up or make the call. Calm our worries about test results and appointments, and help us trust you with what we cannot control. Be near to anyone who is sick today, and let your peace settle over the people who are waiting for news. Give us strength for the tasks ahead and gentleness with one another when we are weary.
Thank you that you care about our bodies as much as our hearts. I give you this day, and I give you my family’s health within it. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, keep my family healthy and safe today. Strengthen the ones who are tired, comfort the ones who are hurting, and guard the ones who are out of my sight. Give me wisdom for whatever the day brings, and help us rest in your care. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer while you are still in bed, before you check your phone or start the coffee. A few quiet minutes at the start of the day can set the tone for how you respond to whatever comes, from a sneeze at breakfast to a phone call from the doctor’s office.
If you have children or a spouse who is sick, you might hold a hand, rest a palm on a bed, or touch the bag or lunchbox you are packing as you pray. Invite someone else in the house to pray with you, or ask a friend to pray for your family’s health this week. Shared prayer often lifts the weight a little.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord keep your family in good health and give each of them strength for the day. May he be a steady presence in every room, every errand, and every hard moment. May his peace guard your hearts as you go.
