This short morning prayer is for the moment when your body hurts, your heart is heavy, or you simply need God’s gentle presence before the day gets going. Pray it first thing, while the house is quiet, or whenever you wake with worry on your chest. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and say the words that are on your heart in your own voice.
Short Morning Prayer for Healing and Comfort
Father, I am waking up to a new day, and I am not sure how much strength I have for it. My body feels tired and sore, and some of the pain I carried to bed is still here. Please touch me with your healing. Ease what is hurting, strengthen what is weak, and give my doctors, my family, and whoever is caring for me wisdom and patience for today.
Lord, you know the worries that are already waiting for me: the phone call I have been dreading, the appointment this afternoon, the people I will see at work and at home who are carrying their own burdens. Comfort me before I face them. Quiet the racing thoughts, and remind me that I do not have to carry tomorrow’s fears into today. Let me feel your nearness in small ways, like a cup of coffee, the sun through the window, or a kind word from someone who loves me.
Be my healer and my comfort, Lord, and let me rest in you as I start this day. Whatever happens in my body or my heart, I want to remember that you are with me in it. Give me enough grace for the next hour, and then the hour after that. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I need you this morning. Heal what hurts, calm what is anxious, and comfort me where I am tender. Walk with me into the people and tasks ahead, and help me trust that you are already here. Amen.

Psalm 30:5
For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
(WEB)
Pray this verse at the start of a hard season or a difficult morning. It reminds you that the night of pain does not have the final word, so ask God to help you hold on to the hope that joy is coming with the dawn.
How to Pray This Prayer
Pray it before you check your phone, or as soon as you sit down with your first drink of the day. Keep a notebook or a sticky note nearby so you can write down one concrete need, such as a symptom, a conversation, or a decision, and then read the prayer again with that need in mind. Many people find it helps to kneel, sit with both feet on the floor, or hold something warm in their hands while they pray.
If someone you love is sick or grieving, pray this prayer for them by changing the pronouns and naming their situation. You can also invite a friend or family member to pray it with you, either in person or over the phone, so that healing and comfort become something you seek together. Come back to the shorter version whenever the day gets heavy.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who heals the brokenhearted go before you today and steady you with his strength. May he bring relief where you hurt and peace where you worry, and may you feel his comfort settle into every hour. Go in his care.
